Luzardo issues 4 walks, and then a grand slam, in the top of the 5th. The Fightins could have gotten the 3rd out on a popup behind home plate, but JT couldn't find the ball in the lights, and none of the other fielders helped him out.

6-5, Red Sox, in the top of the 5th
The guy has turned into a complete liability.

You have got to be freaking kidding me! Luzardo out and out blows as does Topper. What the heck is this moron of a manager thinking leaving Luzardo in when he is walking everyone I predicted that grand slam. Again, not a serious team with the idiot manager.

This team won't win a championship with this manager. Just look at game 6 in Houston and games 3 and 4 in Arizona. I hope I'm wrong, but nothing this season has changed my mind.

JT with a solo blast in the bottom of the 8th to tie it up, 6-6!!!

His first HR since May 21, and he hit it to straight-away CF off of Chapman.

Looks like Lazar just gave up the lead on a double in the top of the 10th. It’s hard to win when you spot someone 6 runs on two hits. Let’s hope they have another run or three in them.

Schwarber ties it up with an RBI single in the bottom of the 10th, making it 7-7. Fightins have one out with a man on 1st (Weston Wilson comes in to run for Schwarber).

Red Sox with a 2-run HR in the top of the 11th, to make it 9-7.

With 2 outs, Rojas drove in Harper from 3rd, to make it 9-8. (Not bad for his 1st at-bat in the game.) Kepler to the plate, but the Red Sox make a pitching change, and bring in Bernardino (a lefty). Kepler gets called out on strikes (the called 2nd strike was outside, but the ump called it a strike).

Final: 9-8, Red Sox

100 percent this. Luzardo was the one win for Dombrowski in the offseason. That now seems to have been a total fail that leaves the team worse off for another consecutive season.
Hindsight is 20/20 but he should have been pulled after he walked the first run in. However, JT not seeing the pop up for the third out can’t be ignored. If he catches that ball for the third out, the inning is over with no damage.

4 walks from Luzardo that inning. FOUR. I get your point, but an MLB-level starter, especially a #3 pitcher just can't have that kind of control loss in an inning. JT may be the best defensive catcher in baseball. Certainly top 2-3. He shouldn't shoulder the blame.

If JT catches that ball, the inning is over and none of the rest ever materializes. I think bases were loaded with 2 outs and no runs at that point, correct? That’s a huge blunder. As you said, he may be the best defensive catcher in baseball, but that was a huge error. Highly paid MLB catchers are expected to make that play. To your point, when Nola gets back, Luzardo is the #5 guy in the rotation.

2 innings in, and Walker has given up a solo HR to the Yankees in each of their at bats. smh
