No offense to Jeff, but BA doesn't mean what it used to. Give me OBP (or better WOBA), slugging, or OPS.
Would really suck to lose Wheeler. That said, the Phillies won a world series with a rotation of Hamels, Blanton, Myers, Moyer, Kendrick and failed to win one with Halladay, Hamels, Lee, and Oswalt. As Cliff Lee said, that's baseball.
Mets lose and the Phils are 7 games up. NYM are flirting with dropping out of the final wild card spot. That’d be a shame.
It’s amazing how much love Atlanta gets every year only to underperform. It’s too bad.
As much as I dislike the Mutts, this season has been more satisfying to watch the Barves stumble throughout the entire year. Nothing quite like having them mired in mediocrity.
Good, it's an experience that plays well on TV and will provide greater exposure to the team on national media.
Abreu was a fantastic player during his Phillies days. I think the fact that he played in an era with so many great OF disguises how good he was. Those numbers certainly warrant consideration for the MLB All Decade team for the 2000s. There were just so many perennial star OFs with better name recognition.
Wasn’t he considered to be a bit lazy in the OF? I seem to remember the conversation being that he would have been a perfect DH because his fielding left a lot to be desired.

It does certainly play well on TV, but I think the Phillies get plenty of national exposure and the baseball world is well aware of them.

It's not difficult to make the case against Bobby Abreu for the Baseball Hall of Fame. Just a cursory look at his Baseball-Reference page provides you with all the evidence you need. Only two All-Star selections. One Silver Slugger Award. No top-10 finishes in MVP voting. Very little bold type.

These are one of those runs this team goes on where different people contribute every night and it looks so perfect and easy. Then it makes you wonder, how can it ever not be like this?

Wheeler will have second surgery, out 6-8 months. Some of you may now panic.
