If Seidel is undefeated would they put Davino 1 and Blaze 4 or try to break it up?
Seidel lost to Forrest.

Seeds likely gonna be 1 Forrest, 2 Davino, 3 Seidel, 4 Blaze. Blaze and Seidel might switch, depends on coaches' rank. Seidel will have Conf Placement. Blaze will have Win % and probably Quality Wins. RPI might go to Seidel.

Edit: Davino has some shot at the 1 if he's the 1 in the coaches' poll, but even then it's not clear. Forrest is definitely the 1 if he's higher ranked by the coaches.

Just poor from Marcus. Didn’t have a look at an offensive point ever in the entire match to my eye.

we give crap to plenty of guys for doing nothing all match and praying for SV or TBs and that’s what he looked like.
Actually, 2 phenomenal wrestlers who went into OV the last 2 times. It was phenomenal wrestling by both.

If Blaze goes out and attacks he forces the action and can put Davino in bad spots. That was waaaaay too easy for Davino there. I'll never understand why elite guys are willing to risk losing on a couple seconds of RT.
It doesn't work like that against an elite wrestler. Easy doesn't go into ride outs. Give the other guy some credit. He's elite.

Blaze is so re-attack dependent right now. He needs to trust his own offense and create wrestling positions. He’s incredible in those situations so he needs to just force them. Can’t hold center for 9 minutes and not take a committed shot. Can’t win that way against elite competition
He can win that way, he just can't win consistently.

Nice work by Luke. There were some great scrambles in that match.

Marcus needs to find some offense against Devino. He had very few committed shots in either match against him. I don't remember one today. Rideouts are definitely to Davino's advantage, despite the reversal in the dual. Oh well, that weight is going to be crazy regardless of where these guys get seeded.

Justified or not, I like the double stall call

most of the time, the ref's call makes sense to me, and I agree with it. That one, I wasn't a big fan of. Both guys were working to set up shots, and also actively defending their opponents setups. When you have really good wrestlers, where they are very evenly matched, a lack of shots is not, IMHO, stalling, as long as they are working.

The call wasn't incorrect by the letter of the law. It's just not a call that I would have made in that situation, and I suspect a lot of refs were a bit surprised by the call.

I'm giving him all the credit, he just easily beat Marcus Blaze. He never once had to defend a shot and is obviously better in tiebreakers. The only reason Blaze beat him the first time was the hail Mary reversal.

141 Final - #1 Jesse Mendez (OHST) vs. #2 Brock Hardy (NEB)

Period 1:
Circling, tying up & hand fighting. Mendez drives Hardy to the edge. He works the head & takes Hardy out. Hardy gets a stall call. Circling & tying up. Hardy pushes forward a bit. Mendez fights back to center. Head slaps & taps as they circle around center. Hardy tries a 2 on 1, but no luck with that, 90-sec left. Mendez takes Hardy to the edge again. Hardy circles around the edge & back in. Mendez shoots & gets a leg, then finishes the TD, 3-0. Out of bounds & restart. Hardy is still down. He stands, turns & gets the escape, 3-1. Mendez shoots again & gets a leg. Hardy locks around the waist. They're scrambling. Mendez comes up & turns, but time expires. 3-0 Mendez

Period 2:
Mendez takes down. Hardy sucks him back. Mendez turns, but Hardy stays with him & gets a leg. Mendez tries to kick free, but Hardy hangs on & is getting a count. Out of bounds & restart. Mendez is still down. Hardy throws in a boot. Mendez fights him off & turns, then catches a leg & gets the escape, 4-1. Out of bounds & restart. Tying up & hand fighting. Hardy shoots, but Mendez sprawls back & fights him off. Mendez pushes forward now. Circling around center. Mendez with some snaps. More of the same until time expires. 4-1 Mendez

Period 3:
Hardy takes down. He works to his feet, but Mendez is riding heavy. Hardy keeps working & gets the escape, 4-2. Hardy shoots, Mendez counters & gets a leg. Hardy locks through the crotch & is trying to come behind. Stalemate & restart. Circling & hand fighting. Mendez shoots a double, but Hardy hips out of it. Stoppage for blood time. Mendez's face is bleeding. Back to action. Circling & tying up. Hardy presses forward & shoots, but Mendez circles away. Hardy reaches & again. Mendez locks around the head. Stalemate & restart, 24-sec left. More blood time. It's the chin of Mendez. Back to action. Hardy comes forward & snaps. He reaches, but no luck. Stall warning on Mendez. Hardk keeps reaching. Mendez counters & gets another TD, 7-2. Mendez rides out the period.

Jesse Mendez DEC Brock Hardy 7-2

Mendez earns another B10 title.

Luke's offense took a step in year two. Hopefully the same will ring true for Marcus. Still has a shot to win 133 at nationals. Possible 3 to 5 seed.
