Yeah they previously announced Dreshaun vs Coby. Dreshaun is playing football and has a game the night before on the other side of the state, so I'm sure it has something to do with that

Yep, but they knew/mentioned that when the original matchup was announced - which is why I'm wondering if something changed with Ross in the interim.

Could Ross and Merrill been asked to cancel in order to bring in a bigger draw to Coralville and Flo?

Other Iowa men's targets competing at WNO include:

- Last-minute addition #3 Maximus Dhabolt (Ankeny Centennial) at 165. He'll face #1 Melvin Miller.

- At 120, #1 Landun Sidun (PA) will get the winner of #2 Rocklin Zinkin (an OK ST commit) and #3 Domenic Munaretto (Ohio St)

- And at 126, Hawkeye target #2 Paul Kenny (NJ) gets #1 Antonio Mills.

Personally, I think Ross devotes himself to football after this football season and gives up his wrestling aspirations. If so, it was well played by Iowa.
He would have to have an amazing season to even entertain that and get offers from power 5 conference teams.

If Maximus can even avoid getting destroyed by Miller, his stock will rise. If he makes it a close match, we are going to have a lot more competition for his services. This is a #1 versus #40 pfp prospects. When we lost Bo, I was more upset that Miller was also gone.

Miller might be two years older too.

And the Mocco/Merrill match will be super close, with me for Mocco predicting a Mocco win. Mocco lost to him in freestyle 9-0, then was beating him in a rematch by 4 with 20 seconds left. He got stuffed on his own shot (he never should have shot with the lead) and taken down and turned. And this happened seconds after he was clearly from a concussion test in the last minute of the match. Mocco had 2-3 takedowns to the 1 I just mentioned. The real question is can he get away from a 270 monster or build enough of a lead that he doesnt have to go down.

All true.

Mocco will have better results than Merrill in college.

Twice IIRC
Were those folk style? Getting tech’ed in folk is more dominating. Miller is definitely at a different level than the rest of his class. He would have beat Duke in freestyle this summer if not for a bad call at the start of the match.

Is this the event where the wrestlers have the option of Folkstyle or Freestyle?
