I'm kind of surprised to see several of you saying that Davino should have gotten the TD (the one tOSU challenged, and didn't get).

I went back and watched the move about 10 times. As a ref, IMHO, it's not a TD.

The ref on the mat didn't call it a TD on the mat.

Because tOSU threw a brick, the official review was done by an independent panel -- not the refs that were on the mat for the match. That panel looked at, and they have more camera angles than are shown on TV, and they concluded it was not a TD.

I keep trying to help you guys in your analysis of TD attempts, in getting you to look for whether control is established. Davino came close to that, but just for a flash, as Blaze hit a roll just as Davino was close to attaining control, and grabbed Davino's legs. So you don't take a freeze-frame picture (mentally) as a ref, and say control was established for half-a-second, so it's a TD. You look at the big picture, and in that Davino did not establish control, as Blaze rolled through and grabbed a leg, and had that leg when the two were out of bounds.

I really don't think it was that difficult of a call for the ref on the mat or for the review panel.

Just my 2 cents
So it was his inability to control the right ankle after the initial grab? I’m still learning

149 SF - #1 Shayne Van Ness vs. #20 Chance Lamer (NEB)

Period 1:
Here we go! Circling, tying up & hand fighting. Van Ness presses forward taking Lamer to the edge. Van Ness shoots, Lamer counters & gets a leg. Out of bounds & neutral restart. Tying up & hand fighting. Van Ness presses forward. He picks an ankle & finishes the TD, 3-0. Van Ness almost catches Lamer on his back, but Lamer rolls through. Van Ness looks for another turn, but can't lock it up. Van Ness keeps the pressure on from top. Lamer comes up & Van Ness looks for another turn, but no luck. Van Ness goes over 1-min of riding time & it's blown dead. Blood time. Van Ness is bleeding from his nose, I think. Back to action. Lamer is still down. He works to a quadpod, but then Van Ness breaks him back down. Lamer tries to turn, but Van Ness stays with him & gets him bellied out on the Resilite. Lamer works back to his base, but Van Ness is applying heavy pressure from top & he brings Lamer back to his belly. Van Ness goes over 2-min of riding time. Van Ness rides out the period. 3-0 Van Ness, +2:19 RT

Period 2:
Van Ness takes down. He pops to his feet & gets the quick escape, 4-0. Van Ness shoots & gets a leg, then finishes another TD, 7-0. Van Ness gets Lamer bellied out again. Lamer is struggling on bottom against Van Ness. Lamer sits out, but Van Ness stays with him. Lamer sits out again & gets the escape, 7-1. Tying up & hand fighting. Van Ness shoots, but Lamer kicks away. Lamer shoots, Van Ness counters & finishes another TD, 10-1. He catches Lamer on his back & adds 4 NF, 14-1. Out of bounds & restart. Lamer is still down. He can't get much further than his base & Van Ness gets him bellied out again. Van Ness rides out the period. 15-1 Van Ness, +3-min+ RT. I missed a point for Van Ness somewhere. Stalling point, maybe?

Period 3:
Lamer takes neutral. Circling & hand fighting. Van Ness presses forward, shoots & finishes another TD, 18-1. He has Lamer on his back & adds 4 NF, 22-1. Lamer rolls to his belly & it's over.

Shayne Van Ness TECH Chance Lamer 22-1 (5:21)

I was thinking of looking at the rule book but why start now , I have always been comfortable with strong opinions even when lacking knowledge
