Not sure how you can reconcile your view of the Davino takedown with saying this wasn’t.
They were both takedowns. I told you guys last week this could come back to haunt you. Duke just got screwed.
We have to fix this next year. The officials have a completely different understanding of the rules than the people who matter - the wrestlers, coaches, and fans.
If you actually believe, refs, and reviews have their **** together, you're full of ****. Don't stop PJ, You're fking decked. What an absolute joke wrestling has become. That pathetic wrestler never took a shot in 3 periods.
Truly upset. I just don't know how they get away with that. Obviously, the refs who did the review aren't going to answer questions about it, but that was a royal screw job and absolutely cost PJ Duke a national title (not to mention costing PSU a bunch of team points and gifting them to OSU).

Wow, that's some kind of bs - so PJ has a pinning combination locked up and the Ref wipes out a sure TD with another horsecrap "reaction time" Challenge??? Complete bullcrap that they should be able to reverse a locked-up Pinning Combination (Cradle) takedown - how is that not "control"??? Folk Officiating and Rules are such a joke!

You have a cradle locked up, the ref calls a TD, match over. How is that reviewable?! If the ref lets them continue to wrestle, he probably takes him to his back. Just horrible!!!
Both of dukes losses this year are direct results from piss poor non takedown calls.

I said in a thread earlier this year the TD/No Takedown controversies all year will really come to a head when kids are screwed out of National Championships.

I am so fking done with POS officials not having a clue, stopping live wrestling, and determining outcomes. There is no explaining this. It's a fking travesty. PJ would have pinned him if he wasn't stopped. What a fking joke.

Stopped o Duke's advantage and then waived off the takedown! Unimaginable that sequence of events which took Duke's win and trashed it.
The TD reversal was a terrible call. In a sudden victory situation you can't call it a TD which stops the wrestling and then reverse it.
Unless it is an obvious miss, that TD has to stand.
That being said, not wrestling to score from neutral was a terrible game plan. To me it became fairly obvious OkieSt was comfortable going to the ride out. Other than Welsh there is nobody else on this team who should ever be comfortable letting it get to rideouts.

The only way it could have been bigger is if the ref was holding 4 backs and then time ran out in the 3rd with a riding time point awarded on top of the 4.
He didn’t let it come down to the refs. He had an effing cradle locked up and the ref stopped the action. Totally incompetent ref.
The ref called for a TD and then stopped the action. If he had let it continue, Duke would’ve gotten back points and possibly a pin. That was criminal!
It didn't come down to luck, PJ would have pinned him. He didn't take a single shot.
Sucky call for sure but you have to get to your offense. Blaze and Duke got to fire more. Never want to leave the decision in the refs hand. Bad call. Win some lose some
