For lebeauff would likely not be able to pull that hire off but talk about a great small program that cranks out great kids and wrestlers...If he did that, I'd pull an old reynolds wrestling p.o box and drive my boys to waterford for school lmao
FLB has a pretty solid staff right now. Milano was a D1 starter at Clarion, Johnson is a former coach of the year in D10, Murphy was a D3 AA at Thiel. I honestly thought they’d fall off the map after McChesney and Pryzbicien stepped down, but they’ve got a competitive team again.

It’s amazing to me how many kids still do the P.O. Box thing for Reynolds. They aren’t the only big dog on the block anymore

How about the no stall calls on Robideau despite ZERO offensive attacks in 8+ minutes of Neutral wrestling????? Only in Folk is this bs rewarded - Robideau would have been nailed repeatedly for passivity in Free as Duke took all the shots and was the wrestler "taking ground" (and Robideau backing up) the entire match in Neutral.
I think that was their plan--to take PJ into deep waters. His tank is a bit suspect.

Nobody wants to hear it, but '28 is probably going to get interesting.

I'm as bewildered as everyone else about the PJ match. Horrible officiating, but I thought Duke was going to walk through Robideau and he just didn't. The way he looked through Big-10's and the first 3 rounds, I was Messenbrink/Barr certain that he was going to be in the finals. Sucks that him and Blaze finish the season having only lost in TB; hopefully it's a lesson learned.
Duke really likes ties in elbow . He didn't get them against Robideau probably because of hand defense. He probably needs to work on leg attack when that happens. He had a good single early that he should have finished.

I believe even if the ref called the takedown wrong , he is supposed to let wrestler finish move if on a pinning combination. He totally should have not blown the whistle by guidelines. One of the worst stoppages ever.
Edit for above per Tom Mc
The rule was changed a couple of years ago to stop match after the takedown in OT. See below.
Stupid rule change .

197 SF - #1 Josh Barr vs. #5 Joey Novak (WYO)

Period 1:
The final match of the evening. Here we go! Circling, tying up & hand fighting. Barr throws in an underhook. Novak drops to his knees. They work back to their feet & Barr takes Novak to the edge. He drops to a double & finishes the TD, 3-0. Novak works to his feet. Barr drops to a leg & they go out of bounds, restart. Novak is still down. He works up to his feet, but Barr trips him back to the mat. Barr tries to catch Novak on his back, but Novak rolls through. Novak gets a reversal, 3-2. Out of bounds & restart. Barr is still down. He stands, but Novak trips him back to the mat. Barr keeps working & gets the escape, 4-2. Collar ties & pushing in the center. They drop to their knees. Stalemate & restart. Barr drops in on a leg. Novak throws in a whizzer & tries to grab an ankle. Barr stands & pounces on top of Novak for another TD, 7-2. Barr rides out the period. 7-2 Barr, +51-sec RT

Period 2:
Novak takes down. He gets to one foot, then stands, but Barr takes him out. Barr goes over 1-min RT. Novak is still down. He works to his feet & Barr lets him go, 7-3. Barr shoots & gets a leg, then finishes another TD, 10-3. Barr gets Novak bellied out. Barr goes over 2-min of riding time. Barr rides out the period. 10-3 Barr, +2:16 RT

Period 3:
Barr takes neutral. Circling & tying up with some snaps. Novak shoots, Barr counters, but no luck. Novak shoots again, but Barr circles away. Novak looks tired. He takes a sloppy shot from way out & Barr easily evades it. Barr drops in on the legs & finishes another TD, 13-3. Riding time is locked up. Out of bounds & restart, 50-sec left. Novak is breathing hard. Novak rolls, but can't get away. Barr takes Novak out of bounds. Barr gets a stall call. Novak is still down. He turns, but Barr gets him bellied out. Barr rides out the period & adds a riding time point for the 14-3 major decision.

Josh Barr MD Joey Novak 14-3
Pete, on your Pj match you stopped after calling Pj for the win. Im glad you finished the pbp. I thought the worst. That you glitched. Order restored. Thanks for everything you do here.

If we were Cornell there would be hell to pay. There needs to be some tough questions asked and responsibility taken.

Duke in that match reminded me of Kasak last year against Joey Blaze. You knew he was the better wrestler but lost. And both of them handed Taylor a Natty in the process.

I addressed this earlier.

In college (and HS; that was changed @ 2 years ago to match college rules), in sudden victory, you make the call to stop the match when points are attained by one of the wrestlers. The ONLY exception is if the defensive wrestler is in near-fall criteria. If they are, so as not to disadvantage the offensive wrestler's team from picking up bonus points, you don't stop the match. If a pin is attained, then you stop it then. If the defensive wrestler goes out of near-fall criteria, you stop it then.

As Robideau was not in near-fall criteria when the ref determined that a TD had been attained by Duke, he would have been wrong to not blow the whistle, and let the match continue.

Tom, shouldn’t Davino’s riding time stop when he was hit with stalling? If so, Blaze would’ve won.

I think it could look like the McGowan Liledahl match. Some times it's so bad they can't avoid it.
McGowen could wrestle tomorrow's match just like he did in Rec Hall and these clowns will not hit him more than twice for stalling, and the second call will have to be for some seriously egregious avoidance.

I know and I know other schools don't to. Hell, a kid named cody burnette lived about 8 minutes from commodore perry but because his dad was an absurd *** hat and basically got told not to come around, his boy wrestled for Greenville. Hell cody Copeland also was not a Greenville kid who wrestled for Greenville. Commodore perry back then did not have a single kid that pulled that crap. We had 50 kids in my graduating class and with that, a really good team with an undefeated state champ in ceremuga. Wish piaa cracked down on it more. Would've helped us have a real shot at times. Still beat Greenville but reynolds...Gah.
