I know and I know other schools don't to. Hell, a kid named cody burnette lived about 8 minutes from commodore perry but because his dad was an absurd *** hat and basically got told not to come around, his boy wrestled for Greenville. Hell cody Copeland also was not a Greenville kid who wrestled for Greenville. Commodore perry back then did not have a single kid that pulled that crap. We had 50 kids in my graduating class and with that, a really good team with an undefeated state champ in ceremuga. Wish piaa cracked down on it more. Would've helped us have a real shot at times. Still beat Greenville but reynolds...Gah.
I heard a story or two about Burnett over the years. None were flattering and each centered on him having a super fragile ego. They still have it going on today. If you look at the listed school for their kids at PJWs, 1/4-1/2 are listed as a school other than Reynolds. Apparently St. Mary’s is starting to pull the same stuff

Yea, cody was a cool kid though just raised by an absolute jack wagon...It's a shame they do that, but I think now people see what these academies and prep schools do and just accept it at all levels. Wouldn't mind seeing prep/academy/religious schools not be in public leagues but that will never happen. Which stinks

They always are. Awkward.
With each passing NCAA tournament, Quint K. reminds me of Michael Keaton in the movie Multiplicity (Multiplicity (1996) - IMDb), where he clones himself, and with each new cloning, he becomes more and more of a mess. Not trying to be unkind to Quint, just that when I saw him sitting on a chair during a match, mic in hand, he reminded me of that movie.

Seems to me the rules committee is making the refs job harder. ….. riding time stopped on legs ….. The committee should use the" KISS" coaching term.

This rule makes no sense to me. AND it throws the further complicating factor of getting the time keeper involved.

Agreed. Blaze pulled a rabbit out of a hat the first time, but he's otherwise done nothing against Davino. Who knows about future weight classes, but as it is, I don't see him beating Davino or Forrest moving forward.
So you don't think our coaches can figure this out?

Drake Ayala has a fun fact. He's the only wrestler to face the fab four. He didn't win any of the bouts.
0-3 v Marcus Blaze
0-2 v Ben Davino
0-1 v Jax Forrest
0-1 v Aaron Seidel

Can we assume the talk tonight will be T™️osu and osu-w? I mean, two dominant buckeyes and four freshmen cowboys. That’s the story.

Yes, but I’m sure others are saying Blaze and Duke are problems moving forward and PSU returns the entire lineup next year minus Levi. PSU will be fine. Will the team race be a little closer? Yes, most likely. Will the final results be different, probably not.
Next year's PSU team probably chases another team scoring record. OkieSt will be a dominant second place. Iowa, the Buckeyes and Cornhuskers can stare at the Cowboys backside chasing them.

Sounds so stupid, but I genuinely had a poor night's sleep because of Duke. He has been my favorite guy to watch this season. Except for a handful of matches this season, he just physically imposed his will on opponents; the real world version of Brian Schute. I basically penciled him in to major his way through the tournament. In another thread I think I gave Blaze a 10% chance of standing atop the podium this weekend, so his loss didn't surprise me.

I'll stand by another opinion: I think it would be best if both Blaze and Duke redshirt next year and prepare to move up a weight class. Whether it was the cut or something else, Duke needs to work on that gas tank.

Next year will be interesting. With Levi graduating, 174 is open. Since Mitchell has Oly Ambitions, and 74Kg is ~163, don't seem him going up, but who knows.

It seems both Kasak and Duke are likely to outgrow 157.

I'm sure Cael has a plan or something.

Hence the reason that some are wondering if betting is somehow having an impact! Not saying so, but it makes you wonder.

I've never been that guy to suggest that games were being fixed, that players were throwing games, etc. etc. and I find it hard to imagine that someone has gotten to the refs or to other wrestlers (seems like a lot of medical forfeits by people who didn't appear to be badly injured which benefitted one specific team), but damn, that PJ call (among others is just really, really hard to otherwise explain). I hate to even think that something like that is going on, but damn.......And for the record, I don't dislike David Taylor, don't really have issues with Oklahoma State either (given that we're going to beat them by 50 points in this tournament), but.......

Why do think Kasak will outgrow 157? Seems like he is planning on staying at the weight.

Then the reviewers complicated the error by overturning a TD. At that point Duke was emotionally done. At a minimum, a rule change is necessary to allow the action to continue in OT. In that sequence occurs in regulation, action continues and most likely Duke has a 7 point move.

At this point, we need to DEFINE takedowns and reversals and enforce stalling, but I have no faith in the rule making process.

When they created the three point TD and destroyed historic continuity. We were told that it was going to create more offense. Instead we get guys riding their knees, and more stuff is going to review. More matches are ending early-because they didn't adjust the TF threshold when they arbitrarily raised the TD point. Nobody knows what the hell reaction time is.

How many pins would Nickal, Nolf and Zain lost under the 3 pt TD rule?

It makes no sense that a reversal remains at 2, because it's a more difficult move than a TD.

Nobody knows what the hell reaction time is either.

Just re-watched the Duke debacle. We were at a bar watching last night so there were some distractions but I knew it was a screw job even then. After re-watching it I see that it's way worse than I realized. How can you review something after a ref blows his whistle basically stopping the wrestler from finishing beyond a doubt? PJ had him locked up and probably would have pinned him and then the ref bailed him out. Review officials need to apply common sense in a situation like that.
