McGowan is pretty tough to score on; would not expect a high scoring bout with bonus.

I don't know what was up with McGowan in the PSU-Princeton dual meet a month ago (other than McGowan barely had any exposed skin due to the sheer number of bandages on), but I'm guessing the current version isn't the same guy who refused to engage and was DQ'd for stalling.
You're probably right. That said, that was a miserable excuse of "wrestling" that tainted my opinion on him. Heck, in that duals thread on here I initially mentioned his talent and potential for a deep run and then watched him wrestle Liledahl and immediately thought hmmm. Might not have thought that through.

Got your wish! Haines indeed will be last. I’m elated, but also surprised too.
I'm also surprised. I would have guessed starting at 149 to finish with Davino-Forrest at 133 and Mendez-Vega at 141. Those are two of the more hyped match-ups, plus would finish with the two Bucknuts in Cleveland.

Neither love it nor hate it for Haines; ambivalent.

Hope Ok St doesn't steal our thunder tonight like we did awhile when we did it to Iowas championship winning night. PSU going perfect would certainly do it and Ok St losing a couple would gelp too.

LETS GO NITTANY LIONS LETS GET THIS CLINCHED!!!!!! Also Duke got screwed yesterday. I've been involved in wrestling for over 30 years. I've wrestled in college, i've coached at both the youth and high school levels and I've officiated at the high school level. I was NOT Gods gift to officiating there was plenty I could get better at but in the words of my officials association I didn't take shite from anyone and I didn't put up with shite when it came to stalling. Tom McAndrews was right in his comment that the official by rule was to stop the match when the takedown occurred in his opinion. You only allow it to continue if the opposing wrestler has broken 45 degrees and is possibly going to be pinned which was not the case so that part was correct by the official. The fact that it was overturned is BS. That's a cradle and Duke was to the side that's control and a takedown. I don't care what the opposing wrestler does at that point they are trying to break control. So I've got a big problem with the independent reviewer and hopefully they are not invited back next year. The other problem I have is college officials not calling stalling. Again no one is perfect I certainly wasn't but damn college refs are bad at calling stalling and it hurts this sport. Robideau was not only holding hands but backing up the whole time. For those on here criticizing Duke for not getting to his offense you can't take shots from a mile away you're just going to put yourself in bad positions where you'll probably be countered. One of the first things you're taught in this sport is getting penetration on your shots. So any criticism of Duke is not warranted he couldn't get on offense because Robideau was constantly backing up. The problem there was the ref not calling the stalling. I would have hit Robideau with his first stall warning by at latest the end of the first period. The next one and a point for Duke would have come halfway through the 2nd period thus forcing Robideau to open up his offense. Duke was going forward the whole match so even though he couldn't get off a shot I wouldn't have hit him as he was trying to get closer to shoot. Anyway just my two cents again no one is perfect but the NCAA needs to do something to help the sport by trying to end the stalling in matches. Again lets go Lions lets get this done.

He is the same guy, just had a ref in that match who called stalling. Expect him to be moving backwards all match.

The plan against every Penn State wrestler that made the semis last night: grab fingers, slow the match, get to rideouts to give yourself a chance and hope your tank is bigger.

The narrative tonight. "Penn State locked up the team title in this morning's session, they have 6 in the finals but storylines to watch JB, how about these young Cowboys lead by High School phenom Jax Forrest". Also the hometown Buckeyes lead by Jesse Mendez...."
But I won’t hear a word they say… I will hear OUR JB on Lionvision… and if I couldn’t get him, I would watch it on mute!

Really hard to score on when he is situated outside the circle!

Great. I had everything set up perfectly on multiple TVs and computers for 2 days. This morning, my wife got up before me and used one of the computers -- the one I've been streaming ESPN+ on. And sure enough, when I tried to log in to ESPN+ for the past 10 minutes, I see the endless spinning circle. smh

He also loves tying up and then collapsing both guys to their knees and then hanging there. Luke needs to stay out of tie ups.

133 Consi Semis- #3 Marcus Blaze vs. #15 Tyler Knox (STAN)

Period 1:
Here we go. Wow. Just walked in. Hand fighting & tying up. Blaze shoots & comes behind for the TD, 3-0. Talk about jumping right into it. Lol. Knox works to his feet, but Blaze jacks him up & brings him back to the mat on the edge. Out of bounds & restart. Blaze is still down. He pops to his feet again & gets the escape, 3-1. Tying up & hand fighting. Blaze pushes forward taking Knox to the edge. He snaps & comes behind for an ankle, but Knox fights out of it. Blaze immediately re-attacks & finishes another TD, 6-1. Knox sits out on the edge & they go out of bounds, 1:02 left. Knox is still down. He sits out & Blaze tries to suck him back. Knox works to his feet & gets the escape, 6-2. Tying up & hand fighting again. Blaze has 1:03 in riding time. He snaps & comes behind to grab a leg on the edge. He drags Knox back in & pounces on top to finish the TD, 9-2. Out of bounds & restart. Knox is still down, 9-sec left. Caution on Blaze. Blaze rides out the period. 9-2 Blaze, +1:26 RT

Period 2:
Blaze takes down. He turns, but Knox stays with him. He works to his feet, gets hand control, but Knox throws in a leg & brings him back to the mat. Out of bounds & restart. Blaze is still down. He works to a quadpod, then his feet, but Knox is locked around the body & brings him back to the mat. Blaze pops back up & almost gets away, but Knox grabs an ankle & they're on the edge scrambling. Blaze gets a reversal, 11-2. Out of bounds & restart. Blaze goes optional start. Knox gets the escape, 11-3. Collar ties & hand fighting. Blaze creeps forward. Stall warning #2 on Knox, point Blaze, 12-3. Knox shoots, Blaze counters & comes behind for the TD, 15-3. Blaze rides out the period. 15-3 Blaze

Period 3:
Knox takes top. Blaze works to his feet, but Knox brings him back to the mat. Blaze pops back up, but Knox takes him back down. Blaze grabs an ankle this time & gets another reversal, 17-3. Out of bounds & restart. Knox is still down. Blaze goes optional, escape Knox, 17-4. Collar ties & hand fighting. Blaze snatches an ankle & quickly collects the other leg to finish the TD & 20-4 technical fall.

Marcus Blaze TECH Tyler Knox 20-4 (5:46)

I know that my investment of my time rooting on these boys is dwarfed by the commitment of these young men, but I thought I could maybe wake up in a better mood this morning and I haven’t. I’m still pissed. 1st world problems.

let it go GIF

Question for tonight. If a guy wins the finals by regular decision, how many additional team points is that - 4 or 5? I guess do advancement points still count?

I don’t get it. But I think I’m right. Each dub is 3.5 (0.5 advancement; 3 placement from 6th to 4th). That’s 7 points and we’re 6.5 under OkSt’s max.
Ah! I was trying to, and failed to, quote your pre-modification post, about Blaze clinching with a pin. It doesn’t matter, I still got to quote the commercial! 😀
