I wasn't crushed by Blaze losing to Seidel because Seidel is, I believe, the first AA from Lebanon County, PA where I grew up and wrestled. But, yeah, Seidel was too tough on top for Blaze and a better scrambler. I also believe PSU will break the 177 mark tonight anyway.

We're so spoiled. A true freshman places 4th in arguably the toughest weight class and we're disappointed. Crazy stuff. Seidel is probably the 2nd best 133 behind Forrest. Ono/Forrest could've been epic. I don't see Forrest holding 133, but crazier things have happened.
Part of it is there is a true freshman and a “HS senior” ahead of him.

It might work out that way, but right now Davis > Desmond at 141. Desmond needs to get stronger more than Blaze does.
yeah. and he knows it. He looked pretty good in limited action and I think Davis is gonna redshirt like he was supposed to this year

I'm not trying to diss him. I respect what he did in a year he wasn't supposed to go. I just don't think we see him again with the talent on this team. Next year will be the redshirt this year should've been. After that? I don't think he beats Blaze or Desmond. And this is assuming Luke can stay 125.
Sorry. I’m just trying to be funny. Its what I do.

In county history? I'm not doubting you but that's unreal that a county with considerable population in PA has never had an AA before

Hell ya Marcus! With that TF, Penn states bonus moves back into the top 10 (10th) with 37.5. which is more than either the last two tournaments so I have to wonder if it's the most bonus in a tournament in PSUs history, if not NCAA history.

To partially answer your question, this tournament has indeed set a record for Penn State bonus points. Last year was also record setting. 2017 is 3rd place at 32.5.

I'm sure @Wrestleknownothing can tell you if this year is an all time record for any school.

Remember when Zain took 5th as a freshman and took two losses in the tournament?

Or when RBY took 8th and lost three times?

Or when Nick Lee took 5th and lost twice?

Im guessing things will work out for Marcus.
This is taking 0 away from Zain, the most complete folkstyle wrestler Penn state has ever had over his last three seasons imo, but Blaze is never gonna be in a weight class as poor as the ones Zain wrestled in his last three years

I actually am starting to wonder if Angelo stays at Iowa. Also, AJ got absolutely molly-whopped by bastida last night. His ego must be in the ICU

Alright maybe AJ is not. What I get for not verifying something I see on here first lol
He's a joke. Unstoppable in 2021, and now, a complete afterthought.

Don’t know if it came through the broadcast, but they announced all winners AND all seniors after each medal match.

By far the biggest ovation was for Hardy and it was quite an ovation. He responded to it. Quite touching.
He was very congratulatory to Stanich at the end of their match. That is how you handle a loss. Congratulate your opponent and act respectfully. Hardy has always been a class act.

Saw an interesting move by a Navy wrestler. His opponent would not disengage from laced fingers, so he brought up a leg and kicked the guy's wrist. It worked.
We use that to break grips in jiu-jitsu/judo as well. The grips are much tighter because the fingers are grasping the fabric, not just sweaty skin. Throwing a knee or foot in there and ripping your arm back works, or your opponents fingers suffer. Gi gripping is the primary reason why the long time practitioners of the arts usually have such messed up fingers.

I'm reasonably certain. It doesn't help that there are only 6 high schools in the county - Lebanon, Cedar Crest, Elco, Northern Lebanon, Annville-Cleona and Palmyra. Lebanon, for example, has had only 3 wrestlers place in PA states and only one finalist, who lost to Suhey from State College in 1975. Seidel was only the second county wrestler to win PA states (Jim Collins, also from Northern Lebanon and now the girls' coach at Central Dauphin, won in 2001).

And it's not that populous - #24 in PA counties.

My 2nd daughter is a freshman at University Park. The day she was born, Penn State was playing Ohio State in football. We led 3-0 at half. They made me turn it off.
Brutal. One of my good friends got married on the day Miami FL played PSU at home. Guess where I was?

Too bad “earning the privilege” wasn’t applied a couple of years ago. If it was, he wouldn’t be here.

these two are an insult to the rest of the competitors. In last night’s semi and the finals of the Bigs, AJ waved his hands for stoppage immediately upon being taken down despite no actual injury. Consistent lung breaks. On and on.

Just leave already.
No, no. He is staying to bring pride to Mark Manning.
