Zero doubt that the only thing holding Marcus back is strength training. Time to get to work with Zain on the farm. Not kidding.
It's more than just strength. He's not a great scrambler, has difficulty on top and bottom, and has nothing offensively against the other elite guys. A redshirt year would do him some good.

When your older brother is cutting to 165, genetics might say 133 is a short stay. It isn't at all unreasonable to think Marcus could RS a year, ONO go 133, double D's fight it out at 141 ( Desmond and Davis ) and Marcus emerges at 149 to replace SVN.

This should be a crazy offseason.

My only takeaway, besides being thrilled with our program is I wish we would shake opposing coaches hands. Mitch shakes everyone's hand, even those keeping score.........maybe too much.
Ono says he is losing to everyone in the room, but he can out from bottom. Go figure.

I respect everyone’s opinion. But Marcus was unbelievably close to making the finals and pretty close to finishing a TD on Seidel and taking 3rd. He was one of four guys with a shot to win a championship this year and I’m guessing the other three aren’t considering the benefits of a redshirt season.

College wrestling is the best except for the lack of consistent officiating, especially when it comes to intentional inaction. I.e. stalling.

One thing that I think we are seeing way too often is the 0-0 first period. Three minutes and nothing. My solution is there has to be a stalling warning given. Or two if a ref cannot determine who the guilty part is. Subjective, but isn’t most stalling calls.

if after a trial period, if the problem persists, start awarding a stalling point instead of a warning.
Make it simple, if no points scored and no other stalls called, automatic double stall.

Here’s my quibble - I think savino and Seidel are actually better than Blaze. Duke is better than Robideau. That’s the frustrating part. I think with some game planning against robideau - Duke handles him next time. I am not sure Blaze beats Savino or Seidel….
I wasn't going to be the one to say it and get bashed, but IMO spot on. His athletic ceiling doesn't seem to be as high as the other elite guys and they are getting better. Pretty much the first thing that crossed my mind after watching him this season.

On the other hand, if he stays healthy, Duke could have a Messenbrink-esque rest of his career.

To put it all into perspective, Oklahoma State has the chance to beat or come close to the highest score of any second place team at the NCAA tournament, which is currently 133.5 points by Ohio State in 2018 (would have been 134.5 had Snyder not thrown his headgear after his Finals victory) and Penn State still probably wins this tournament by 50+ points!

Just because your brother weighs 165, doesn't mean you are ever going to grow to 165. Or to say someone's father is 260, doesn't mean the kids are going to weigh 260 lbs.

Kasak redshirted this year - how many other programs could afford to put him on the shelf and still win the national title at the beginning of session V? one of the benefits of coming to Penn state. Best room in the world arguably

Mitch shakes the hand of the new ref coming onto the match for the next match.

The Blaze brothers just had a long conversation a part of their warmup. Would love to have overheard that one.
Don’t quote me exactly but I think what they were talking about is how Penn State doesn’t develop wrestlers well and that they should both return to Ohio next season….

Again don’t quote me word for word…

Hah @El_Jefe, one of the worst, butt hurt Buckeye posters clearly lurks over here and quoted you (I think he now says “Pedro State” since the alternative might not be kosher anymore by their mods - interesting coming from a campus with pedophile/sex trafficker Lex Wexner’s name all over it, but I digress)

LMFAO now the Pedro State board is blaming Blaze's lost on the fact that he is from Ohio...Can't make that stuff up.
"He's from Ohio...a state notorious for underdeveloped mat wrestlers"

Hey, DeGaz, your coach is a double-digit IQ simpleton and routinely ruins great recruiting classes. Hope he gets a lifetime contract.
Buckeye fans by definition are intellectually challenged imbeciles with no self awareness. Be kind.

Shouldn’t DeGazmeister be more concerned with how the team with B1G coach of the year, wrestler of the year, and freshman of the year only has the 4th highest point total amongst B1G teams?? 😆
