Saw an interesting move by a Navy wrestler. His opponent would not disengage from laced fingers, so he brought up a leg and kicked the guy's wrist. It worked.

Tough to beat the best in folkstyle when you can't get out and can't ride. Good year, after getting ridden all summer by Zain there should be improvements.

I’m obviously not the only one but it became clear by the second half of the season that we ended up getting the least talented wrestler(in folk style)among the top 4 freshman at 133. Blaze just doesn’t have the skillset that the other 3 currently have. Very disappointing that Taylor going to Ok State ended PSU’s chances for Jax

IMO, PSU should strategically redshirt Blaze, Davis and Duke to match Ok St firepower in future years. Start Ono, Desmond and Henckel and the team is still the favorite to win in 2027.

It's more than just strength. He's not a great scrambler, has difficulty on top and bottom, and has nothing offensively against the other elite guys. A redshirt year would do him some good.

I’m not disappointed.

There was a time I thought Penn State royally messed up getting RBY instead of Daton Fix or landing Desanto in the portal.

RBY finished 5th in B10 his freshman year. He wound up with more national titles than the rest of that bracket combined (and there were a lot of hammers).

I learned the lesson, trust the staff.

Thing is Cael has yet to ask me what my plan is.

When I meet up with Cael before the Finals I'll make sure to bring up your suggestion. I also need to make sure I educate Cael on the intricacies of coaching, like attempting a duck under while trailing late or bringing your hips to the party. I will let you know how it turns out.

It was a serious concern about Barr when he came to PSU - couldn't generate offense. Funny how things change.

He was interviewed this year and tells the story of asking Cael, "what do I do here, who should I go with? Cael said, well go get coach Varner, get Carter, then have a go with Aaron. I can go with you. Coach Casey. I went with them all, and gosh there were nights I would leave that room with tears in my eyes. I couldn't score, I was terrible and wasn't getting any better. Then they sent me to a tournament and I got to wrestle other guys. Oh my goodness, then I could see my improvement."
He still couldn't finish against Sinclair until they wrestled again several months later.

Barr is a beast, a pure dog on a bone beast. Smart as hell too. Something isn't working, and he simply says teach me and it takes very little repetition for him to learn.

...and Ohio State Wrestling fan, on top of that. They literally elected Jim "look the other way" Jordan to the US Congress.
