We could still back into the playoffs in the dumbest way possible, but I’ve never looked forward more to a year long strike.

It’s so bad, Chico Ruiz was just announced as pinch hitting for the Rays.

It’s going to be quite an offseason in South Philly. It’s hard to imagine Dombrowski being back with how this season played out.

He worked his playbook and got close to a title. But there was always a flaw that kept them from it.

Now they clear some payroll, but are loaded with aging players on immovable contracts. It’s hard to see them getting better with Harper, Turner, Schwarber and JT pulling down $100 million every year long term.

Big decisions start at the top and they need a fresh perspective.

Likely already noted but the Phillies game and the Diamondbacks game both start at 3:05 ET, give or take 5 minutes. First time I’ve noticed something like this happening in MLB. (EPL soccer final match day has every team playing and every match kicking off at the same time.)

Why does this team even want to make the playoffs? Theyve had a chance to wrap this up within the entire month of September. Clearly there is something going on behind the scenes to see this level of quit.

Likely already noted but the Phillies game and the Diamondbacks game both start at 3:05 ET, give or take 5 minutes. First time I’ve noticed something like this happening in MLB. (EPL soccer final match day has every team playing and every match kicking off at the same time.)

If you look closely all but 2 games are starting around 3 today.

Yes, thank you. I had read that “all the games start at the same time,” and then saw an exception and without looking more closely guessed that it was just the Phillies and the Diamondbacks.

Yes. Anything could happen but with as bad as they've been lately, it's hard to imagine them making a miraculous turnaround for a deep playoff run. The starting pitching is streaky, good more than bad. The offense is streaky, bad more than good. And the bullpen is god awful. Part of me wants to see the Phils in the playoffs but another part of me doesn't want to be tortured by seeing them crap the bed in the playoffs.

MLB has been doing this for a number of years. It helps negate the advantage of a decision with starting pitching that could be possible with typical Sunday times. A team can no longer see the results/likelihood of outcome of earlier games to decide whether to use a pitcher they may want to use early in the playoffs.

Also think MLB is hoping to recapture the final day drama that occurred in 2011 when multiple games with post season implications had late close game deciding plays that seemed to happen within minutes of each other.
