Hopefully the next NU coach will come from the G6 or FCS ranks and have a proven track record of winning.

Brent Vigen is sitting right there as a homerun hire. I'd let him bring his whole team too.

Hopefully he hasn't priced himself out of our pocket change once we can afford to can Rhule.

The only time darnold has been bad in his entire life is when he was on the dysfunctional clueless jets and playing for Rhule
Lifelong Seahawk fan here. This is a true statement. Darnold gives Brock Purdy a ton of credit for his development. He said he learned more from Purdy than he had his entire NFL career prior (Jets/Panthers). Sam threw less than 50 passes all season for SF (60% complete), so it’s tough to judge that performance.

Two interesting facts:

1. No quarterback on the New York Jets has either played for or left the Jets team and gone to the Super Bowl with another team since Joe Namath. A few have played in the Super Bowl and then gone to the Jets in their sunset years. But none have come from the Jets. (I read this this morning and have not verified it.) Horrible franchise.

2. In his 8-year NFL career with 5 teams, Sam Darnold‘s lowest rating came under Matt Rhule.

Imo the team will be better because Dylan is gone
This feels like a situation where we will immediately wish he was back and I don't really like him, his style, nor do I think he is that good. But he would have been a three year starter, and Rhule has a terrible history of leading offenses...starting over with a guy from a lower conference who was turnover prone and not that great in an offense league sounds like a disaster. I assume this is a Tanner Lee situation, gasoline on the fire.

It's fair and fine to hate Raiola since he's gone and was always cringe.

That said, we win 3 or 4 games without him last year.

Rutgers has a very good coach and have recruited sneaky well. They have enough talent to win games.
Very well could be on Friday night, it was the last time we played there and we won a close, low scoring game. Wouldn’t be so fortunate this time around. Not easy to play in front of a crowd of 600.

This makes it even funnier to everyone who knew Rhule was a hot air blowing furry little elf from day 1

we do not currently operate a serious football program

4-8, 5-7, 6-6 - honestly who cares?
You care deeply. If you didn’t you would not have a presence on this board

Rhule being fired as soon as possible is the best thing for Nebraska Football.

going 5-7, 6-6, 7-5 is meaningless and dangerous in terms of apathy/stagnation.

going 2-10 and getting a new staff that might have a clue (no guarantees, but we know our current staff is inept and incapable) would be ideal both short- and long-term, especially since we have precisely zero players we should be worried about leaving with little Matty & his misfit toys.

regardless, it really blows having a lame duck coach going into a season we all know will be pointless only to have to do it all over again for ‘27.
I'm going to mildly disagree with the first line.. I think it's okay to see what happens for this next year. Let him win or lose on his results at the end.

I think Rhule has indeed proved that he's not really a football coach, so I totally get the desire to move on. I've also seen lot's of really dumb and unqualified people have success in spite of themselves. Due to the contract, most understand why we have to put up with this for a couple more years, but there is also a possibility that this year turns out to be a banger.. in spite of some of the dumb things that Matt will inevitably do.

I guess for me, it's already kind of a dead horse issue re: Matt. Let's just see how it goes. I'm more inclined to think fans should be looking a lot closer at the current AD. He's becoming a problem imo.

Just remember our star QB quit on us. Why? Cause his awesome uncle got him hurt and was fired for it. Lol.

“We have to get a little more ball hawkish,” Dannen said. “We’ve got to turn teams over.”

“We’ve got to run more plays on offense — which means fewer plays on our defense,” Dannen said. “Ball control. Those are things I saw good teams do. Every snap you’re on the field, every time you’re not 3-and-out (on offense), those add up to possessions your defense doesn’t have to defend.”

Oh wait. Someone trying to "think it through" for a change? This statement is what every ******* coach should automatically know and our AD is just figuring it out? Now we just need Rhule to figure it out plus the trenches is where your need your best players and ... wait for it... the best ******* coaches too. What is this Jr high football? GTFOH.

The more these guys talk, the more they seem incompetent. Hmm, just like our players.. the more they "learn" from these coaches, the worse they get.

We need more people with much higher IQs in the Nebraska administration and coaching staff. Until both of those things happen, good ******* luck.
