I didn't see any of the games but reading the write up and box scores we manufactured runs on very few hits in several games. Our pitching and errors gave up too many runs. Losses to Sunbelt team (L -UL, split with 1 win ULM), C-USA ( L 2 to Jax St) and Southland (L1 to McNeese).
The softball Dad that use to come on here talking about the need for a coaching change may have been right.

He wasn't the only one calling for a coaching change the last couple of years. He was more upset that Bargfeldt wasn't playing his kid as much so griped about him. Crissy Strimple was a reactionary hire by Dickson (or was it Gragg?) to elevate a coach who was already on staff. Didn't work when we tried it in basketball over the long term, didn't necessarily work in football over the long term, didn't work in volleyball either. Crissy unfortunately knows little about what it takes to get good pitching and defense on campus and that seemed to be Bargfeldt's forte. It's time to do a national coaching search and I think Moore might have enough connections with A&M and their assistants/former assistants that we might be able to find a decent one to come here.

Losing to Louisiana is not a terrible thing. They're usually somewhere around the top 25 every season. But losing to ULM and Jax St. is not acceptable. These are games we should be loading up some wins. I fear it's going to be bad news when we get into conference as it doesn't seem we have any pitching whatsoever.

Softball dad was calling for a coaching change when we were winning conference titles and winning games in the NCAA tourney. His pat line “well…we should be winning more”. End of the day he was pissed his kid wasn’t playing as much as he thought she should.

Tulsa gets victories #2 and #3 today. Both 1-run wins , the 2nd in 9 innings. Beat host Tarleton State who came in with 9-1 record for both the wins. They played way better than a 1 win team today

Lost 2 to UTSA at home today. 5-2 in the first. In the second game we led 9-3 in the top of the 7th! We lost 12-11! Time for a change.

It wasn’t too long ago that OU was still this good and TU played them toe to toe may times and nearly upset them in their sub-regional. Right now we can’t hit and we certainly can’t pitch. Strimple was supposed to be a great hitting coach. Right now TU is really bad at all phases of the game and there really isn’t an excuse. She has to go or this program will be completely irrelevant in 2 years.

Swept by UNT. 0-6 in conference. Dropped pop flys first 2 innings, threw ball to uncovered base in third inning. Turned it off after that. Feel bad as there is some talent in the lineup but dysfunctional overall

Talked to Justin at basketball game he didn’t say anything when I said a change needed to be made but he hinted with a smile said he can’t talk about it but I had the feeling something is going to happen we can have high school coach do better

Unfortunately, it might be too late. If it had been just two years...i think we could get back to relevancy but with the amount of time we have been gone now ... It will take more than just a new coach. We have allowed softball to just crumble, it will take a few years to get us close to being competitive again.

On a 4-game conference win streak after run-ruling last place Memphis today. We were 2nd in conference in conference game home runs coming into weekend and we have jacked 5 so far this weekend against a bad Memphis squad. Today they played like the Tulsa of old, it was fun to watch.....maybe, just maybe the ship is righted. No matter, this has to be an "impressive turn around" or "be gone" remainder of the season for the coach.

Well, so much for being positive. Lost today to last-place Memphis.
We have fallen back to the "be a spoiler, occasional weekend game winner" squad of the last several seasons, not the "fighting for the championship every weekend" team we were under Coach John B.
Time to look at some changes for next season to get back to being a tough out in intra-state games and in the conference.

Whoever said the program is too far gone to get back with just a new coach...that is wrong on so many levels. Volleyball did it in 2 years after Wills sort of ran the program into the ground. The right coach will bring in the right players and things can change quickly. There's a ton of softball talent out there and with the way OU and Texas are turning to the ways of NIL and transfers like all the top 15 teams, there will be plenty of really good freshmen who can change fortunes quickly as well as some lower level D1 players hungry to move up a la Miles Barnstable in basketball. It takes 2 good pitchers and some players who can throw the leather around to turn teams around very quickly. Strimple wanted to turn TU into OU and outhit everyone...problem is the defense can't catch simple ground balls or fly balls and the pitchers can throw an out pitch when it's needed most. Bad combination when your bats aren't working the way you think they should. Bargfeldt had the right formula for TU. Really good pitching and really stellar defense. Score a run or two and you have a chance to win with that combo.
