In late April, Jenks (OK) offensive lineman Ryley Kester became Tulsa’s first football commitment in the 2026 recruiting cycle. The 6-foot-3 and 290-pounder listed several reasons for picking the Golden Hurricane.

Kyden Barker, a 2026 quarterback prospect from Clear Falls High School in League City, Texas, recently committed to the University of Tulsa. The 3-star prospect chose the Hurricane over numerous other scholarship offers, including Colorado State, North Texas, UNLV, UTEP, Southern Miss, Tulane and Texas State.

As a sophomore in 2023, Keilan Chavies emerged as a standout talent for the Hutto Hippos and began picking up heavy recruiting interest from college coaches. The 5-11, 188-pound all-purpose back turned heads with his electrifying play and versatile skill set, racking up offers from Texas Tech, Kansas State, Houston, Kansas, Arizona, Baylor, Cal, Arizona State and several others.

With a growing list of Power Four offers and a reputation for game-changing performances, Chavies shut down his recruitment on Saturday and committed to the Tulsa Golden Hurricane.

Tulsa is hosting a round of official football visitors from the 2026 class this weekend, as TU looks to build on its hot start to the 2026 recruiting cycle. The Hurricane currently has six commitments from the Class of 2026, including 3-star Jenks (OK) lineman Ryley Kester, who is one of eight prospects currently on campus.

This weekend's visitors include six recruits with Power Four offers, and TU is battling conference mates for all eight prospects.

After an official visit to Tulsa, Booker T. Washington cornerback Keynan Farley committed to the Golden Hurricane. He’s been highly impressed with the new TU coaching staff, which led to his decision to play college football close to home.

Originally, the 6-foot-1 and 190-pound defensive back planned to go out of state for college.

New Tulsa head coach Tre Lamb and his assistant coaches have quickly proven three things when it comes to recruiting.

1. They are aggressively pursuing in-state talent.

2. They aren’t afraid of recruiting the highest-rated prospects in the region.

3. They are routinely beating multiple Power Four schools for commitments.

Prime examples are recent verbal pledges from Tulsa (OK) Union defensive back Daijon Gaines and Houston (TX) Elsik linebacker Reilarean ‘Speed’ Phillips. Both have numerous P4 offers, and both committed to Tulsa this week after taking official visits to the TU campus.

The new Tulsa football coaching staff has been on fire in the 2026 recruiting cycle, gaining commitment after commitment from highly-rated, highly-recruited prospects. TU added yet another stud to its 2026 class when Fairburn (GA) Langston Hughes cornerback Julian Byrd committed on June 5.
