It’s weird how we aren’t closing the deal with these guys we’re recruiting. I’m not defending the assistant coaches but maybe it’s hard for them to sell playing for Pope right now. Pope isn’t a well known coach and he hasn’t been here long. Yeah we have a lot of NIL money, but going to the wrong program can cost a player millions in the long run.

I know I’ve preached that with the instant transfer rules, that recruiting isn’t as important, but, that being said, at some point, you have to get a stud or two every year out of high school. Not sure why we are getting our share.

It makes no sense in an era where everyone wants a payday and we offer the best pay too. That’s a big issue to me.

I think it’s because we play so many guys, so nobody is gonna get over 30 minutes a game.

Other schools are using that against us.
Yeah could be. We need to start recruiting studs to start and be the 5-6 core members. Bench guys get paid well to play their role.

Are assistants more important than we think? Seems they are in all sports. When the line coach passed away in football we were never the same. Idk how to spell his name and don’t wanna disrespect him. When Robic left Cal was never the same.

Pope needs some good assistants.
Probably Pope is the reason for recruiting

Alvin Brooks can recruit Edgecombe to Baylor, a lesser program
But he suddenly can not recruit at Kentucky?

I don’t believe Pope will ever play a kid 30 minutes a game because his data shows they play better with less minutes. That was his reasoning last season with Amari when the media questioned him on it

I agree. He needs to change his philosophy or else go with 5-6 guys the majority of the game and give the other 3 bench guys about 10-12 minutes a game at most. A few breathers a half, no mass substitutions either.

I don’t think the adidas Nike stuff matters at all anymore. It’s why cal is ineffective.
It’s about those NIL dollars and you have to offer him enough he can’t refuse. It’s that simple
Yeah….thats why Cal is ineffective…..

I mean those are probably the top assistants on each team respectfully, Schlarman was the OLINE coach who brought a toughness and a physicality to our team! Robic was the game prep coach for Cal so he was instrumental to Cals success, now that Cal (brothers keeper ) fired him with nothing much said about it!

There is a fine line there if you're starters are way better players to me I would think that the better player evn tho playing 30m would still be better then playing the 2nd stringer 21/19.

Clearly those top 5 classes show how ineffective he is in recruiting.

Sorry I forgot I have to literally spell **** out for some of you nitwits.
he’s ineffective NOW.
Not back when it worked.
Cal was ineffective before NIL came along because the game passed him by, not because of NIL. Sorry but your daddy just sucks now days and it has nothing to do with NIL otherwise Duke would be stinking it up and hell they don’t even have chicken money.

"Not likely, he is Adidas kid + West Coast kid, making it almost impossible to come here"

If being from the west coast is so important to him for choosing a college, why did he transfer to Prolific Prep in Florida this year?
