Read above. He reclassified to 2026 and enrolls in August. He might have the opportunity to play this season at Rutgers. That wouldn't happen at PSU this season with Hansen, Peoples, Martin, and Wallace ahead of him.Why would he want to go to Rutgers? They’re not exactly a college football powerhouse !! Hhhhmmmmmm……. Maybe money, money, money
They let him reclass to 2026 and get him his compensation now instead of waiting a year. Why would he want to go to Rutgers? They’re not exactly a college football powerhouse !! Hhhhmmmmmm……. Maybe money, money, money
Nobody can blame these kids when they chase life changing money. On to the next. Why would he want to go to Rutgers? They’re not exactly a college football powerhouse !! Hhhhmmmmmm……. Maybe money, money, money
Not a lot of “uncommitted” but there’s a lot of flips coming. More losses and more gains. College football is really annoying right now.So Gibson reclassified to 2026 and will enroll in August. Didn't see that coming. What impact did that have on his recruitment? Do we not have a space in the 2026 RB room?
Why did his rating just go from 4 star number 8 RB to 3 star number 34 RB?
There's not a lot of uncommitted RBs in the 2027 top 50 RBs. Probably have to flip a RB or portal.
I think in Gibson's case it was the opportunity to reclassify and enroll next month. That may not have been an option at PSU. Reclassifying allows him to begin receiving NIL a year earlier.I may be wrong. but is seems as though Campbell and Co make a hard line financia,NIL commitment to these recruits. I have a feeling that Gibson, Dean and Taylor came back looking for more cash and MC said no thanks. Part of me admires that...part me thinks sometimes you have to play the game if you think the player is worth it. Either way every class is going to be a wild ride until signing day...more than ever
Yeah, he reclassified to 2026. I'd love to know what effect that had on everything. So now losing recruits to Rutgers. Jesus.
Yeah, with him wanting to jump into the 26 class, I don’t see this as much of a problem. I don’t think he’d crack the rotation here in 26 so it’s not that big of a deal. We will probably lose a couple others in our class before December but they’ll get replaced with some kids who are committed elsewhere right now.
So now losing recruits to Rutgers. Jesus.
It’s not even worth following. I’ll set a reminder for signing day to check in on the class lol.I may be wrong. but is seems as though Campbell and Co make a hard line financia,NIL commitment to these recruits. It's the wild rest right now, i get irritated but i know mega bucks are being thrown around. I could be
wrong but this is the first year of high stakes (millions) are being thrown at HS recruits in mass numbers.
It's a formula that will be disastrous for some teams, others will luck out.
This will all even out one way or another, i just want to see players who want to play at Penn State.
Me too, But I'm not in a position to do anything about it. In the case in point, some here find it disrespectful. I doubt most watching gave it a second thought. I would wager that losing out on the commitment made many overly sensitive. It bothers me anytime I see disrespectful behavior. In any context my friend.
I'll stick with my opinion that if he chose PSU and threw the Husker hat, no one here would have commented. Its still not cool....regardless of which school he committed to.....Penn State or otherwise. Do you make a distinction??
I don’t think it’s the Wild West at all. It’s about money. Gibson is very smart to go to a team where he can receive money this year instead of next year. That makes financial sense for Gibson. Reclassification at Penn State does not make sense given the RB depth chart. It would be a repeat of the Olesh mistake Franklin made. The ROI would be zero for Penn State to reclassify Gibson to the 2026 class.
I'll bet most passengers on the Titanic had hope they'd be rescued. It would have ended better if someone had planned ahead and had the correct amount of life boats....."Remember, Red, hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies."
I think it's a case of why play HS ball for free when you can cash in instead. So Gibson reclassified to 2026 and will enroll in August. Didn't see that coming. What impact did that have on his recruitment? Do we not have a space in the 2026 RB room?

Man, I wish I could have reclassified to the class of ‘89 and skipped my senior year!So Gibson reclassified to 2026 and will enroll in August. Didn't see that coming. What impact did that have on his recruitment? Do we not have a space in the 2026 RB room?

True that. We're lacking in the blue-chip level of player with the current class. Replacing higher prospect de-commits or almost-commits with guys they can find further down the recruiting board may be something Campbell and staff are used to as a matter of life, but it won't cut it here in the long run. The hope going forward will be: 1) there will be more NIL available after this roster transition is largely complete, and 2) Campbell and staff have the ability to establish relationships where they need to be. I'm willing to give it some time, but we need to see some better results in the area of recruiting in the coming couple of seasons. It's a different recruiting landscape now.
Each situation can be explained away. Collectively, it's a mess.So now losing recruits to Rutgers. Jesus.
Counting on flips isn't a good plan. Remember, flips are looking for more money than where they are currently committed. We're lacking in the blue-chip level of player with the current class. Replacing higher prospect de-commits or almost-commits with guys they can find further down the recruiting board may be something Campbell and staff are used to as a matter of life, but it won't cut it here in the long run. Understand the plan. PSU will harvest flips.....if that doesn't work we'll win the portal, if that doesn't work our 3 stars will all be evaluated as 4 stars by the industries. If that doesn't work, we coach them up. Finally, be positive.True that.
BUT:
If they (PSU) don't have big bags of money available now, they never will.
There isn't anyone one on the current squad that has high-profile, high-money status. (mostly a bunch of Iowa State guys who landed in a pot of cream when their coach got the PSU head gig - and not even the highest-profile of the Iowa State transfers; transfers from lower-level programs; and a bunch of young unproven guys leftover from the post-Franklin exodus).
It should be one of the cheapest rosters in P4 football.
Quick, name 5 proven high-profile players on the current roster - only the most homerific PSU fan(atic) could even try to make that claim.
FWIW: saw something the other day that listed the top 30 or so players in the BigTen for 2026 - ZERO from PSU. Those lists are often not great, but there sure as heck are no Dante Moore, Julian Sayin, Jeremiah Smith types - heck, not even any Anthony Smith (DE Minnesota) types.
You'd have a heck of a hard time making an argument for any PSU roster guy as a likely all-conference pick - and probably not more than a couple as likely candidates for 2nd or 3rd team All Big Ten.
NONE of the current roster should be carrying a big price tag around.
Couple that with:
If one were to believe the spin that comes out of PSU Athletics (granted, only a fool would take anything from that source as something resembling the full truth), PSU is swimming in new-found money, from all the "Art of the Deal" that was initiated by Kraft.
So, what gives?
Certainly one of the things that "gives" is the nonsensical and constant refrain that PSU's inability to land high profile recruits is due to someone else being able to offer a "bigger bag".
That is just nit-wittery.
My friend...apples and oranges.....we are only fans. We are not on the coaching staff. We have no control over recruiting. All we have is hope.I'll bet most passengers on the Titanic had hope they'd be rescued. It would have ended better if someone had planned ahead and had the correct amount of life boats.
Well....I'm an equal opportunist. When Joey Porter celebrated a meaningless play when we were down big time.....I commented his showing a lack of class.Me too, But I'm not in a position to do anything about it. In the case in point, some here find it disrespectful. I doubt most watching gave it a second thought. I would wager that losing out on the commitment made many overly sensitive.

Ignore is your friend. Can somebody tell Marshall to shut the hell up? Dude is a total loser just arguing and posting non stop 24/7
