I personally think it’s a loss even with him being lower rated on 247 and ESPN services. I said that in my message? And yes, the money bag dictates most of these “commitments.” FYI Gleason has wandering eyes too. But in terms of Robinson, both sites seem to be saying we parted ways with Robinson .

Gleason CB to wvu.

This one is dollars related. Came back with new $ demands for PSU and we said no. He is another solid prospect, but no different than so many other CB prospects out there.
So they feel they can find an acceptable replacement for the money they want to offer?

Malvern Prep WR Cade Cooper committed to LSU a few days ago. He was once linked to PSU. Hard to argue with the WR haul at PSU if Hall and Taylor join though.

We have been recruiting this guy throughout the year, even with a full cb room prior to the decommitments. This one is based on if the kid is willing to leave his home state as that was the hindrance earlier in the process. Terry really likes this prospect.

I'm not sure what you mean by "he stole money".

IMO he had two problems.
  1. He did his best but couldn't get it done in big games.
  2. After losing to Oregon in OT last year he seemed to quit on the team. He looked like a deer in the headlights.
I don't know if could have ever overcome #1. The pressure obviously got to him on #2. He needed to go and VT is a good choice. He has recruiting connections in the region and the VT fans will be elated with a 9-3 team.
Point two is my point. Well, add to that that the team didn’t really show up for the first three games either.

That’s going to be an uphill battle.

Franklin coudn't beat Ohio State. Period. Of course no one else in conference does either (except Connor Stalions).
He and PSU needed a "fresh start." Kraft and Franklin had a death feud anyway.....one had to go. It is actually quite possible that in 3-4-5 years reasonable people will see the change as good for everyone.
But, there are many frightened PSU fans here that need to denigrate Franklin, largely to create breathing room should Campbell get off to a less than stellar start.
There are a lot more sensible Penn State fans that realized he wasn’t going to get it done. It’s the same vast majority of fans that are willing to give Campbell a shot at doing what Franklin couldn’t. You like to make believe people are canonizing Campbell when in fact people are just willing to give Campbell the same shot they gave Franklin. He got 12 years to build what he thought was a legit national championship contender and completely **** the bed. If Campbell does the same the vast majority will want him out as well.

Interestingly, Dean is the 18th wr and Taylor is 19 wr on 247.
Did you notice who is number 20?

I'm not going to go back and look but a poster on here within the last week said. Dean, Taylor and Hall were interchangeable as far as they where concerned and then some star gazer started jumping all over them with one is a top 100 recruit another top 200 and the third top 300.

They look pretty interchangeable on 247 for now.

BTW, based on the average rating per recruit. On 247 PSU is currently 13th. Franklin was keeping PSU in the top 10 with that kind of HS recruiting.

You’re right, I did not see Hall. I said in the beginning here that Dean would end up being the best wr out of the group, but I didn’t think his rating would move up this quick. I thought it would catch up in the fall. If we get two out of Dean, Hall, Taylor and Blum it is a better than most of Franklin’s wr classes. 3 of the 4 would be best in decades. All 4 would be best ever at PSU.

An interesting stat would be to analyze how much Campbell's recruits bump up in rankings relative to the average and also look at the reverse. Does he have an eye for hidden/emerging talent? To be fair, I do think Jimmy was good at that. There.....a complement to Jimmy, that will make his jock sniffers happy.

Jimmy was mostly a star chaser, not a star developer.

But I think he did get some guys who really blossomed after they committed but still in HS. Wasn't Abdul Carter one of these guys? Barkley maybe although Rutgers first found him so maybe Jimmy doesn't get credit for that. Warren was a great story but I think that was more college development rather than him improving his rating while in HS.

Coatesville PA OL Maxwell Hiller is now the second ranked overall recruit in the country. A big bump for Terrance Smith of Lansdale, PA also. He plays for Lansdale Catholic and has an offer sheet a mile long. His top 4 is LSU, Tennessee, Auburn and Rutgers.

Hiler is a perfect example of what I've talked about. I certainly don't know the details but it appears that he followed Trautwein to Florida. I assume Trautwein was on this kid for some time and Campbell stepped in with no connections in PA.

I think Smith committed to LSU just a few days after Campbell was hired. It's likely that we lost him because we didn't even have a coach.
