Now your post was "sarcasm"?

I wasn't arguing, just looking for proof when you suggested JJ got outbid.
you’re asking me for a link to three emojis….. then chastising me for not responding….we’re not arguing yet but I’ve seen enough of your **** to know how you roll

how about you provide a link where I said JJ was outbid…… again someone asked for reasons she chose to play for the drunk and I posted bags of cash as a possible reason

you’re the only one I have to explain it to and I’m not gonna play

Careful not to trip as you backtrack.

You absolutely implied tOSU got Wilson by paying more than Jensen offered.

Stop being obtuse. It's a bad look.

Mya Wilson would have been a nice addition but far from a critical loss IMO, Unless someone transfers out after the upcoming season Iowa is pretty well set at the guard spot for the next 2 seasons. I think getting a good player at the 4 spot is a much bigger need.
My first reaction when a prospect signs anywhere else is, "What are they thinking?" Especially at Ohio State now after the McGuff incident....what bothers me the most about that whole deal is the complete lack of meaningful action by the administration there. Speaks volumes about how they do things over there.

Now with that rant out of my system I can objectively see why she passed on Iowa simply based on the roster. Mya is a 2/3 positionally and look who we'll have in those spots come fall of 2027: Dani Carnegie for maybe 2 years, Stremlow for 2, Faison for 3, Stromdahl for 4, Journey for 3, Amari Whiting for 1, and Jada Seubert for 5. If we land Nation or Sienna Williams I can see McKenna seeing minutes at the 3 as well. Maybe Mya will become an All-American at Ohio State but I'm sure there would be more access to minutes at all 3 others schools (TCU, Minny, OSU).

Like KCeast said, with the portal the misses are not as painful.

Yeah. I don't think people realize how stacked this team is over the next 3 years assuming Jan can keep it intact.

good christ you’re a fing douche….. maybe I should get my posts notarized to meet your standards

I’ve been on these boards 25 years off and on and I’ve never had some ******* want to match peckers over posting three emojis

I’m gonna explain one more time maybe you’ll get it eventually someone said why would anyone let their daughter play for that drunk and I posted 💰💰💰as a response to that question….. I never actually even directed it towards Wilson….. my point was simply that maybe cash would be a reason someone might send their daughter there….. then you want a link to what my thoughts because that’s all I posted dumb a$$

Who’s Obtuse now B!tch? Now go find someone else to **** with you flocking weirdo ….. your schtick is getting really old

Well, that just really sucks. Really wanted Mya to join the Hawks. She can really stroke it from three. Living in Ohio we have taken our oldest granddaughter down for games and their fan base doesn't hold a candle to Iowa's. She looked a lot better in black and gold.

Columbus and Iowa City are very different. You've got a 2 million metro population vs a college town with a 180K metro population. Some people prefer one, some prefer the other. Coming from the MSP metro, Columbus may have felt closer to what Mya was used to.

Oh well, on to the next recruit. Hawks are still in a good position for some really good recruits. 5-in-5 has made this class less important than it was before.

I agree, the Stromdahl and Faison commitments plus the 5 in 5 change probably impacted Mya's decision more than anything.

Edit: Faison was ranked #79 in the 2025 class and Houston #88. Journey has really improved under Iowa's coaching. Faison is very athletic, needs to keep developing her perimeter game. Not sure what Stromdahl brings but European players can really shoot.

Wanted to make another point regarding high school players. I think many will need to commit sooner to have a seat on the bus. The portal and foreign players adds a different dynamic to the recruiting process.
5 in 5 also a major factor in recruiting dynamics. JJ's pursuit of front court depth is a possible indicator of the future role of McKenna. By all accounts she runs the floor really well and is developing shooting range. Her role in the future could be as a 3/4.

I read that before Journey was injured her junior year in high school she was a top 20 recruit in her class. I think she's been underestimated by the fans since she arrived on campus.

You're correct in reading that Top 20 for Journey when she committed to IA.

Here are my notes on her:
9/22/22 - #24
6/5/23 - #19
8/22/23 - #19 - Iowa Commit
9/25/23 - #35 - Like most IA commits they move down after committing to us.
1/26/24 - Knee Injury
3/16/24 - #36
10/22/24 - Range from #79 to #91 on other services with ESPN #84.
Think she went up to #95 and off the board on some ranking services and I stopped charting it after this.

I then asked Hawkbuck70 about her and why she dropped so much.~11/12/24 he replied but I only have the link to his reply from the old board. If I recall correctly, he said it's highly subjective and it's very possible because she missed all summer AAU/EYBL games to eval against other top players.

Great timeline. Would add scholarship offer dates.

Iowa -July 2021
Michigan - September 2021
Iowa State - ?
DePaul - ?
Others ?

Wonder if downward ratings trend pre-injury was influenced by relative lack of offers after sophomore summer evaluation periods. Not a lot of known offers by the end of the sophomore summer, unless I’m missing some. Jenica Lewis had many more offers be end of sophomore summer by way of comparison.

My gut feeling is she was locked in on the Hawkeyes early on. Jenica on the other hand seemed to have different motives on selection. Iowa had a lot of appeal to Houston.

1) "... announced her commitment to Iowa over Iowa State, Michigan, Nebraska, Michigan State, DePaul and Wake Forest."

2) “I decided I wanted to go to Iowa because they are a great school when it comes to basketball, of course, but also outside of basketball, I plan on going into the medical field,” said Houston. “It is also close to home and I love being around my family and they can come support me at my games.

3) "Houston made her college decision early and with help from her older sister. Jinaya Houston committed to Iowa’s 2017 class but stepped away from the Hawkeyes before ever playing a game. Jinaya’s experience with the sport — and with Division I recruiting — helped inform Journey."

4) Seem to recall an earlier Matt Randazzo 'Off the Air' podcast she was on and it seemed she was locked in on the Hawkeyes very early. Kinda like it was the Hawkeyes to lose her.

Regarding Hartwell, it appears she may have recently settled on 3 in her Top X list.

2 days ago, Dushawn London posted these statements:
"NEWS: Khalia Hartwell, a four-star center in the class of 2027, is down to three schools,"
"Khalia Hartwell tells me she’s down to three and has set her Iowa official"

Btw, Hartwell did post this Top 3 list to her IG.

Guess we'll see if London dug deep enough or if this is a recent update for her final Top 3 list.

It also took her awhile to trust the knee. She looked much better by the end of senior year than during fall scrimmages.

Talia Goodman and I were on this a while ago. I spoke with Khalia Hartwell in Chicago back in July and she told me she was down to those three, but maybe looking to add another one or two officials.

Hope Barrett can bring this young lady up from South Carolina. Wonder why the Gamecocks aren't on her short list.

These are possible players coming in ahead of Hartwell for Forward/Post players on SC. From the looks of their roster, she doesn't have much chance of playing either position for at least 3-4 years. At least according to ESPN, she is much lower ranked than the rest of them as well. Usually don't see that much variance so don't know why ESPN has her down the ladder this much. SC is stacked. I mean really stacked deep. Probably sees it as the biggest gamble between her other Top teams if the 1-time transfer rule gets approved. Don't know if this 1-time transfer is still on the table yet or if it was nixed when the 5 in 5 went in. The other thing is Staley can easily over-recruit on her in subsequent years which is another gamble where other teams are less likely to pull that off.

This probably means she's looking for PT as soon as possible. I have not looked at the other 2 programs up against us yet to see who has the best chance for her under this premise. Suspect with Heiden she is down 2 years starting. Hope Hays takes a leap and she could be down 3 years with a backup role. Just on the surface (most likely lower rated players on bith teams), suspect one of the other two teams has better PT/starting role than what IA can offer but I'm just guessing on that. However, she may feel JJ has the best chance to get her to the next level like Megan G. of all 3 teams remaining.

Ashlyn WatkinsSrForward6'3"#12-ESPN She isn't eligible for a redshirt but Dawn said she will work on all options to keep her.
