There are only 17 of the Rivals top 80 recruits who remain uncommitted. And 9 of those uncommitted are in the top 20, so most of what is left are big swings at elite recruits.

Looking at teh ACC, Notre Dame leads the way with UNC right behind:

  1. #8 PF Eve Long
  2. #13 SG Avery Arije
  3. #55 PG Chastity Rice
  4. (UR) WF Loren Macy
Rice puts them ahead of UNC at this point, but we match their star players.

Virginia Tech has grabbed up 4 ranked players recently:
  1. #45 SF Lillie Graves
  2. #56 SG Dani Robinson
  3. #58 PG Jazman Bailey
  4. #77 PF Ashley Krieger
That is a really strong, balanced class; they can finally start to rebuild some.

Stanford is in rebuilding mode as well and they got some quality as well:
  1. #41 SG Amisha Ramlall
  2. #51 SG Spencer Laird
  3. #53 SF Frances Vollett
UVA also has three women in the top 80:
  1. #62 PF Lisa Sirgi
  2. #66 SG Nevaeh Roberson
  3. #70 PG Sabrina Anderson
another really strong class to build on.

Cal has #51 Amelia Sow, GT #71 Dasia Scott and right now for the ACC that is it.

That means that Louisville, dook and NCSU so far have not landed anyone.

Louisville is believed to have a legit shot at the #1 overall player, Kaleena Smith. Land her and it is a great class. They already landed Maria Carbo, a promising F from Spain. She is on their U18 team. I thought she was going to play this season, but I do not see her on the roster. So I assume 2027.

dook is still a finalist for multiple top 20 players; do not rule them out just yet.

NCSU is running out of options, but also has hope. Although Qandace Samuels has a sister on the NCSU roster and NCSU is one of 10 finalists (like UNC) they seem to be on the outside looking in like us; she has logged 6 OV's, but they have not included UNC, NCSU nor UVA. They are a finalist (top 6) for #17 De'Andrea Minor. Their best shot appears to be #60 PG Chance Berry, who just OV'd to State this past week. Cuse is also among the finalists.

Summary of remaining known 2027 targets

UNC is a named finalist:
  • #6 5-11 SG Sydney Savoury: Top 6 are UNC, SoCal, TX, UConn, UCLA and Notre Dame. OV's on 8/26. Does not do much social media, so info coming from occasional interviews. Don't read too much into the lack of buzz here.
  • #10 6-2 PF Nation Williams: Top 10 from way back in Feb was UNC, UCLA, Ville, Baylor, MI, WA, UCLA, ND, LSU, & IA. I missed this, but 247's London reported an narrowing to top 5 in July: UNC, IA, UCLA, ND and now dook added. London says she OV'd to IA over the summer and set four more officials. Presumably that included UNC but that info is paywalled. She OV'd to UNC on 9/11 and posted it on her social media. That is the only OV she has posted and I see no indication of any other OVs since then. Is that notable? She too posted Ojo's commitment on her story today also.
  • #11 6-0 SF Ryan Carter: will chose from her top 5 on Monday Oct 12th at 6:30 PM: UNC, aTm, dook, IN, & ND. She has posted OV info before and after all official visits except dook. Maybe she did not visit dook? Odd. She added Ojo's UNC commitment to her Insta story today. we had the last visit unless she snuck in dook. - Tar Heel!
  • #12 6-2 PF Qandace Samuels: (Not to be confused with sister Qadence Samuels already at NCSU.) Top 10 from Aug was UNC, NCSU, TX, Rutgers, LSU, bama, TN, UVA, Vandy & VT. Has OV'd already to VT, TX, Rutgers & LSU. ESPN reports a Vandy visit also schedule. No indication yet of a visit to the other 5 including UNC. I would consider this one a back burner until a visit happens.
  • #52 6-3 PF Sienna Williams: Top 6 are UNC, CO, MI, UT, NB, & IA. OV'd to UNC on 8/26. Has OV'd to all the other finalists except MI since then. We entered late and she has ties to hometown CO. - committed to Colorado 10/11
UNC has received an official visit:
  • #2 6-1 SF Ivanna Wilson-Manyacka: UNC OV on 10/2. Has also already visited TX & LSU. No finalist list as of yet. ND, dook, MD & UConn also mentioned to potentially get OV's. someone here said they heard she would announce in the spring.
UNC Has received an unofficial visit:
  • #67 6-4 C Marley Spiers: Unofficially visited UNC over a year ago. That may not sound promising, but she has only posted one other UV: tOSU. The Only OV she has posted is to VT. so yeh information on her is really sparse. Die to being outside of the top 50, the recruiting services haven't reached her either for an interview.
Who knows where we stand, but not promising so far:
  • #5 6-1 SF Jordyn Palmer: we offered way back in 2023, but there is no indication she has ever visited UNC. recently completed OV's to UCLA, tOSU, and UofSC. ESPN says she will likely make more visits, but no clues as to where. Goodman reports she hopes to visit PSU and MD. She did add Ojo's UNC commitment to her reel today; they were teammates for USA. Not in her finalists
  • #13 6-0 SG Avery Arije: She stays on the list because she was offered and has not yet set a list of finalists or otherwise eliminated UNC. In this post were were among her 20 top offers. She has set 6 OV's according to ESPN: ND, dook, Cal, PSU, MD and Baylor. She has posted the PSU and MD visits. So far, no mention UNC, so this one seems like a longshot Notre Dame Commit 10/9
Another one off the board: Palmer never mentioned a UNvisit so this recruitment never heated up, but I am removing her now since there seems to be a finalists list for the first time:

no ACC schools in the mix

I think Ojo is more of a 2/3 or true 3, so I could see us taking one of the bigger/more physical wings left on the list. I found out today that Nation Williams’ mom went to ucla so I think that will probably be a tough one to win.

On another note, apparently 4 different sources told Skim Milkey that Ojo was going to duke - meaning that Kara probably thought she had her in the bag lmao
So I've also been thinking Nation Williams' game reminds of WNBA great Natalie Williams. It turns out that is her Mom! Natalie was a dual athlete in volleyball and basketball at UCLA and absolutely brutal in the paint. One big reason I love Nation. She has the same type of game. Nation's sister plays bball at San Diego.

UNC great Italee Lucas also went to the same high school as Nation.

I am now concerned about UCLA being the leader. :-( Nation just looked like she had the best visit with Micah (they were on stage with Shaq!)

Micah has some very good inside moves around the basket. I think she could be a real good 4F. Also could be a great 3F. Not that I know but I can see Kate, Ryan Carter, Nyla B, Micah Ojo and Toomey/J as a great lineup.

I would love for us to bring in Nation Williams 6'2 but we will have to wait and see on that wish.

I agree. I saw and thought the same thing about Micah and Nation both being at UNC at the same time and meeting Shaq and all. Also, I just found out today that Coco who plays on our field hockey team stated that both of her parents went to Duke yet she chose UNC. I think anything can happen. I also found out from Ryan Carter that UNC was hers and Taylor Brown's dream school but Taylor Brown chose SC over us. We will have to just wait and see what happens. I hope we can land at least one more either Nation or Ivanna. I would love to have both but I know that is wishful thinking. Go Heels!
