NU Women trail Iowa at the end of the first quarter 22-1. Going to have to go all MSU on the Hawks the rest of the way to pull this one out.

Give them credit. They won the second quarter 19-9. Old Joe hasn't lost his team yet!!!

They made it a two possession game with a minute left, but couldn't close the deal, losing 55-45. Maybe next time they shouldn't spot the other team 21 points.

It was encouraging to see them claw their way almost all the way back. They could be good next season. And for the sake of Joe McK's job security they probably need to be.

They'll be top -25 good next year barring significant injuries.

Best player returns from a leave of absence she took this season, along with one of the league's best freshman this year AND a dynamite recruiting class, and zero contributing senior departures (and only two senior departures, period) equals top 25 barring significant injuries.

I admit that I don’t follow the team that closely, but if they are top 25 it would be one of the biggest improvements I can think of in recent NU sports. The B1G currently has 2 teams in the top 25, their records are 24-6 and 23-6. NU was 12-20 this year. This includes 4-12 in the B1G. Top 25 will probably need to jump 10 teams in the B1G.

Not saying it is impossible, but JM has to do it now. Frankly, a sub 500 B1G record is what we have typically got. I see too many games where we get absolutely spanked. It hasn’t been just this rebuilding year. With the talent you describe it is time to expect a top 4 finish in the B1G.

Second team B10 Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah return too. Another post player, in the form of a grad transfer, would be nice. I do think they will be good next season.
