Tyler Kasak is the 70kg Champ!
A not-so-sercet Iowa fan might say Parker had a beautiful TD but stepped out of bounds twice allowing Kasak to win

Parker Keckeisen was up 9-0 going for a final turn on Marcus Coleman and slipped off and then Coleman caught him and pinned him. Very crazy sequence.

Also, didnt Slav beat Cardenas in the semis? Why did Carsenas wrestle in the finals??
Slav beat Owen Braungardt in the semis, then beat Cardenas in the finals.

Apparently, Cardenas wrestled both 97 (lost to Slav in that final) and 92 (beat a guy from Turkey in that final).

Bassett over Bartlett 15-5.
After going down 4-0, Bassett just beat him with aggression and pace (and a nice gut).
Horrible decision by Beau to reach back from that tripod position rather than just give up the TD. Instead of leading 5-3 he gets trap-armed by Bo and comes out of par terre trailing 11-5.

They wrestled the 97 final first so Cardenas had a break before his 92 final.

Beau does tend to score more in Freestyle. I think it’s in part because his skills apply more readily to the style. He holds position very well, has a strong short offense (front headlock especially) and counter-attacks decisively. If you watch a lot of freestyle, you notice all 3 of those things among the most common setups to scoring from neutral.

But I do love how well Bassett seems to learn from feeling guys out. He flips the script in rematches more than any non-Sanderson/Cunningham coached kid in memory. I’m happy he ended up at VaTech, where I won’t have much reason to root against him for most of his career.
