You sure have a funny way of spelling Hilday!!Great showing from Carr and Hidlay. ...
Very tight match. Was 6-5, the Russian scored on a reattack off Luke's desperation shot right before the buzzer. The stream is rewindable. I watched after the fact.#5 in the world Lilledahl loses 8-5 to #4 Musa Mekhtikhanov. The match started earlier than the posted time. I went to watch Luke and it was just ending so I don’t know how the match went unfortunately
From memory: Russian got first takedown on a quasi-like fireman’s carry. Luke with a point on failed challenge by Russian — looking for additional exposure on roll through. 1-2 Russia. Luke good defensive fight and position resulted in his counter takedown. 3-2 Luke. Russian has step out point. 3-3. Luke with nice throw by takedown to go up 5-3. Luke leading 5-3 with about 25-30 seconds to go. Russian with final takedown and plus fleeing with 12 seconds to go to take lead 6-5. Luke pressing action and gave up final desperation takedown with a second or two to go. Loses 8-5. Overall solid performance and great experience for Luke.#5 in the world Lilledahl loses 8-5 to #4 Musa Mekhtikhanov. The match started earlier than the posted time. Nasirkhaev looked GASSED early in the firstHamiti decks 5 Mokhamed Nasirkhaev!! Hamiti looked great if a bit green in freestyle. He was down 8-4 but got 2 tds and on the last one took Nasirkhaev straight to his back for the fall. Great win for Hamiti!!
Yep...good description. Sad thing is that when Luke was up 5-3, he looked like he was going to add to his lead a couple of times with under 40 secs left. Russian showed some good defense, but I think Luke may have let him go rather than risk rolling around even though Luke was in better position to score. Live and learn. From memory: Russian got first takedown on a quasi-like fireman’s carry. Luke with a point on failed challenge by Russian — looking for additional exposure on roll through. 1-2 Russia. My very subjective take was that the Russian was stronger and even faster than Luke. Some of the attacks he hit were exceptionally quick and decisive. Luke was great in the scrambles and in defense, often getting out of positions where it looked like the Russian had him dead to rights. The roll through Luke hit for 2 early in the match is a good example of a position where I thought the Russian was the one who would score.I just went and watched the Lilledahl match. Actually kind of a brutal loss. He was in deep twice in the last 20 seconds and was so close to finishing on one of them. The Russian fought out and Luke gives up a go behind with seconds left. Good showing against Russias number 1 but Luke is going to be kicking himself for letting this one slip through his fingers
Yeah...agree. Felt like if Luke were losing, he would have definitely scored on those late attacks. To me, he played it a little bit safe, and it cost him in the end.I just went and watched the Lilledahl match. Actually kind of a brutal loss.
