Another impressive year for Pennsylvania at Fargo. Some of my thoughts

I'm still impressed with Herring. I think he will be fine.

Melvin Miller makes it look easy.

Would have loved to see Ross at PSU

Hutcherson should be full court press. He was impressive.

There was a kid from Missouri named Rutlin. He was a stud all week.

KD Training has another good kid Howard.

Gotta say, a guy I’m impressed with who isn’t in the finals is Chase Karenbauer. His only loss all tournament was to Kenney (NJ) on criteria in a 3-3 match in the quarterfinals. He otherwise outscored his opponents something like 91-5 en route to taking 3rd.

Another guy who impressed me was Coby Merrill. He ran through Bechtold and later handled Michael Mocco 9-4. ISU looks like they got another good one
If you didn't watch the match, I get how you came to that conclusion based on the score, but that was not a a handling. Mocco led almost the entire match. If you haven't watched, highly recommend. Great battle between two monsters.

Here is great evidence that Greco is a different sport altogether.

DeSilva just graduated. This past year he placed 5th at NE Regionals, then went 0-2 at states (losing by 16-0 and F 2:22) -- his opponents both went 1-2 at states. In his entire HS career, he never beat a state qualifier. And he just obliterated Raney.

Also how unpredictable Greco is. Raney took 5th at U17 Greco Worlds last year.

To add to your last point- DeSilva also took 4th at Fargo last year while Raney taking 5th in the World, he has made jumps, but Greco is also just wild. I am curious what he does training-wise going forward. He clearly is a potential prospect for Greco teams in the US, but as a specialist I am curious what he will do

That's a really good question. I can't find any news of him committing to a college program, even the Northern Michigan specialist Greco program. Maybe he's going directly into a military program? In any case, he clearly has ability and it would be a real shame if he didn't continue in the sport (assuming he wants to).

From the Raney/OKST angle, this match was an awful outcome. Forget the 2 bombs -- DeSilva first scored a takedown on what looked like a normal go-behind. In Greco, where there are few other attacks to defend. Makes you wonder if there's some vulnerability, but then why it wasn't being exploited before.

Luis alberto-desilva -- What high school does he go to and what grade is he going into. Never heard of him. Just saw a video. Looked dominant.

He seems to have that one move where he can take his sweet time to pick up a prone guy and throw him. Now that people know he has that move, can’t they be more active on bottom and prevent him from getting a good grip on them?

From the article: "The 8,531 entries in 2025's backets are over double the number of entries from 2014." That is impressive growth, especially among the women. Since 2011, the women's participants have more than quadrupled.

Kid in the semis, Michael White, started wrestling as a freshman. Committed to Minnesota. Big time upside at 184/197 in a few years. Excited so see what Kemerer does with him.

Up right now on Mat 7.
Update: DT just flipped him to OSU. Sky's the limit there.
