Be interesting to see if it's a 2 for 1 deal with Becht & Manske. The QB room needed to be re-populated regardless of whether or not Grunk stayed.
Agreed--I'm not being critical of Campbell at all. His job is to build the roster he thinks is best for his success.
Just like I don't blame Grunk but the moment Becht portaled we all knew this was likely. Becht in--Grunk out.

I told people last night that if the NFl got rid of the 3 year rule, if would help college football immensely. That way kids like smith go to the nfl and colleges don’t end up paying him 5 million for one year.

I agree he could be gone to a higher bidder
I'm surprised the NFL hasn't been challenged on that. Didn't the NBA have to modify their rule?

It could be -- we have no way of knowing. It's rarely such a simple explanation. PSU's TE roster is pretty stacked. Ands Rapp did very well. Then you add in the large change in the coaching staff. We rarely hear the details about NIL, but reportedly those conversations were slated to take place after the Pinstripe Bowl. From Brahmin's side, the agents rarely make it a simple "he wants to play for you." Their job is to get $$, and also to find a good roster spot.

Time will tell where Brahmer goes.
PSU’s TE roster is no longer stacked. Dinkins, Reynolds, and Schaffler now gone. Olesh possibly gone. Only Rapp left.

When Grunk said he had to check with his agent a few days ago, it was a clear indicator that it’s about the money.

I wish Grunk all the best and hopes he receives that paycheck.

But, for now. It’s time for Rocco to come to Happy Valley!
Why not Brendan Sorsby?

Maybe Allar got a 5th year. Steve Jones and Terry Smith very vocal in their support of him in the last 2 weeks. Really kind of out of nowhere.

They were just being nice and trying to preserve Allar’s Penn State legacy which is kind of in tatters. Allar became the forgotten man after Grunk started to play well.

Perhaps someone can correct me if my numbers are significantly wrong...but didn't 33 or 34 players walk on senior day? I'm seeing what around 25 taking the portal. That's nearly 60 exits.
2 legit 2026 recruits and 6 or 8 Hail Mary's. We need 45-50 bodies from the portal?

It was all the way back in 2003-4 when Maurice Clarett sued to get the rule changed. He lost. In today's climate I could see someone try it again but I have my doubts that they would succeed.
Yet the NCAA gets ***** slapped every time they go to court. 🫣

Probably 30+ at minimum. A few Juco offers went out this week, 10-12 recruits who are solid, not ‘hail Mary’s’ as you say, and a dozen ISU kids will take care of around 25.

Agree- but if we are going to compete, getting the best QB out there would be a good start
I agree also, but if you need to rebuild an entire roster, can you afford to spend an exorbitant amount of money on one player? However, I think the new PSU GM has a history at Cincy. 👀

Everyone is expecting us to sign and start Becht, right?
Hasn't that been true since we hired Campbell?

We probably can't afford what's being spent now, but if winning is everything you do it anyway. (I do agree with you, though- it's gotten stupid)

The good news is that PSU has a favorable schedule next year. I suppose we will see how ISU East does.

What Legacy? Grunk played seven games and showed he was clearly better than Allar, and not emotional,

You realize Grunk is leaving because he was told we were going to bring in someone else to start, right?
Not sure how anyone could blame him. The kid would have stayed if things were different. He could have easily left after last year.
My problem is, he looked damn good and had 3 years left. There was no reason to bring in that Iowa State guy!

F#$k. The one guy I didn't want to see leave. I really hope Canpbell wasnt jacking him around to bring this Iowa State chump in. Grunk is the most accurate QB Ive seen here in ages.
Amen.

Everyone thinks Becht is a foregone conclusion, maybe yes maybe no. This is now the wild wild west and maybe its just these kids want to see what they can get 💸💸💸 on the free agent market? Maybe they're getting bad advice from their agents\sports agencies? Maybe its the fact they see no playing time and want to see the playing field? Maybe they don't want to have to compete for a starting job? Who knows? In any work place, which college athletics has become, anyone can be replaced at any time and I think players (starters) think they're entitled to their positions every year when in reality they're replaceable at any time. Any coach wouldn't hesitate to put the best player in, irregardless if they were the starter or not, as that's their job.

If they bring a portal guy there's no competition. That guy is starting because he signed here as he was told he was starting
You may hate how college football is in 2026 but we all know Becht isn't coming here to compete. Come on.
He had to go--I said that weeks ago. Grunk was never returning without a guarantee he'd start--nor should he
You're all delusional with this "there's competition for roles" nonsense
Not necessarily true. Pribula portaled to Missou and didn’t win the starting spot. He started because their other guy got hurt.

I get that...but that's not on Grunk
I'm 100% behind the HC should bring in whatever players he wants because it's his team.
I'd have kept Grunk but not my decision.
I'm more focused on Grunk had to leave because it's Becht's team

Pribula isn't a 3 year starter like Becht
Beau also didn't have the experience that Grunk has
I get what you're saying but Grunk was as good as gone when we hired Campbell. He wanted guarantees and money. Campbell wants his guys.

Where are they guys who said Grunk was too slow and only did well because he played against bad teams? Surprised they aren’t happy.

TBH I think he will be very good and would get drafted in 27 so the three yr thing doesn’t apply
