It doesn't seem that recruiting matters anymore unless you find players that can start as freshman. Seems that if they are using the redshirt year to prepare to portal anyway.
It's a f'ing mess....

Next year will be a cluster f$%@. Too much turnover. All the new pieces will not mesh.
I agree wholeheartedly. Why the hell would any school want to put too much money and resources into high school recruiting moving forward when you can just go out and buy a team. In the end, we will likely be one of the most active teams in all of college football in the portal, importing the best of the ISU roster, keeping the best of the PSU roster, and adding some truly upper level portal guys from other schools as well. It worked for Indiana. Each of the final four teams has a substantial portal component to it.It doesn't seem that recruiting matters anymore unless you find players that can start as freshman. Indiana, Miami, Ole Miss, etc proved turnover is just fineNext year will be a cluster f$%@. Too much turnover. All the new pieces will not mesh.
There are a decent amount of one and done players transferring in. Next year will be a big turnover of the roster again.I agree with you but have a bit of faith. This year was a transition year. My hope is that next year will stabilize to more normal numbers.
Very weak! But keep going 99No the whole point of the post was you’re a miserable, old codger that yells at the clouds.
I hope you are right. I am skeptical. Bringing in 20 guys from ISU and running off players from our normal recruiting footprint seems very risky to me, but I know Campbell is a really good coach, so I hope his plan works.I agree wholeheartedly. You don't know that and neither do I. We didn't mesh this year and we were a senior dominated team. We lost an entire recruiting class so he filled that with mostly starters from ISU. Like I said before those guys were 11-3 and 8-4 the past two years. Not bad.Next year will be a cluster f$%@. Too much turnover. All the new pieces will not mesh.
I'm not sure. I realize this was abnormal for us but we are just a small fraction of the 4,000+ in the portal. It seems like an epidemic in college football until someone makes some rules that make sense.I agree with you but have a bit of faith. This year was a transition year. I see we got the OSU RB in the portal does that help?I hope you are right. I am skeptical. Bringing in 20 guys from ISU and running off players from our normal recruiting footprint seems very risky to me, but I know Campbell is a really good coach, so I hope his plan works.
Given the timeframe he was stuck with I'm not sure he had a better option. But yeah, it is a worry.I hope you are right. I am skeptical. The team might be 7-5 next year, but we were 7-6 this year, not 10-2! BGJ ran his course and his tenure was over when they turned to jello after losing to Oregon.Next year when the team is 7-5 the 10-2 players won't look so soft.
How mentally tough are all the players who are transferring in? Are they running from.competition?
Ps. How mentally tough were joes players who lost to toledo?
Not if that means running off one of our own. Peoples is a talented prospect for sure, but by the end of the season he was third/fourth string at OSU. It isn’t like we stole their starter.I see we got the OSU RB in the portal does that help?
He had to back fill, for sure, but 20 ISU guys? I hope the mass influx of transfers to PSU works more like Indiana than Colorado.Given the timeframe he was stuck with I'm not sure he had a better option. But yeah, it is a worry.
Makes me wonder if Martin now leaves--hope not but...
And yet everyone seems to following his blueprint.Nah. Just wait. You’re going to hear all about how Cignetti did it.
Fair but why would he stay at this point when we brought in 2 backs with experienceI don’t think it matters one way or the other. Martin is really an athlete playing the RB position. I don’t see him as an alpha or dominant RB. It may or may not work out for him. Time will tell.
Yet, many watch the opinion hosts and drink up all their BS as fact without ever questioning it.Its sad that you actually still believe that. Most journalists are no better than the opinion hosts.
They try, but not many (or any) will duplicate it.And yet everyone seems to following his blueprint.
An Indy similarity is that they are largely coming from the same team where the coach knows who the top notch players are and they don't have to learn a new system. Colorado couldn't vet that many players coming from so many programs. Once the players arrived in Boulder, they had a lot to absorb. He had to back fill, for sure, but 20 ISU guys? we aren't winning the B1G in '26 anywayHe had to back fill, for sure, but 20 ISU guys? I hope the mass influx of transfers to PSU works more like Indiana than Colorado.
They certainly do. Its a horrible epidemic in this country.Yet, many watch the opinion hosts and drink up all their BS as fact without ever questioning it.
I get it. Completely get it. But having that type of success with that many guys from the same team is going to be tough to duplicate. Again, I’ll be rooting for Campbell and everyone who will be in blue and white next year, but this could go sideways very easily. An Indy similarity is that they are largely coming from the same team where the coach knows who the top notch players are and they don't have to learn a new system.
I also think the coaching staff in Indy is light years better than in Boulder. An Indy similarity is that they are largely coming from the same team where the coach knows who the top notch players are and they don't have to learn a new system. Colorado couldn't vet that many players coming from so many programs. Once the players arrived in Boulder, they had a lot to absorb.
The portal is open to the 16thI’d like to give Martin the benefit of doubt and believe he will stay because he has already given his word.
To some people, their word counts.
What about the 10-2 players that got their asses kicked by UCLA and NW?Next year when the team is 7-5 the 10-2 players won't look so soft.
I hope you are right.Thinking we end up with one or two of Mylan Graham, Quincy Porter, or Noah Rogers
Is there any rumblings in your area of what the local HS coaches think of the Campbell hiring at PSU? Good buzz, I hope? With the WR 'room' it was a disaster. Howard is the only one any of us should want back. Fine with everyone he brought in as a WR
We really missed out on Conception from NC St last year. He went to A&M and had a fantastic year.Thinking we end up with one or two of Mylan Graham, Quincy Porter, or Noah Rogers
It does not matter to me if it is a transition year. Fans are losing interest.I agree with you but have a bit of faith. This year was a transition year. My hope is that next year will stabilize to more normal numbers.
He also fits the mold of a bigger receiver which campbell likes. hope we can get this one over the line.NJ kid and one we recruited hard so a prior relationship exists. I think this is one to watch. It will be very interesting to see OSU without Hartline moving forward.
He may follow Hartline. No current relationship here other than the school.NJ kid and one we recruited hard so a prior relationship exists. I think this is one to watch. It will be very interesting to see OSU without Hartline moving forward.
