'25 Little League World Series thread

The 2025 Little League WS starts on Wednesday, Aug. 13, and continues through Sunday, Aug. 24.

Please use this thread for all pre-tournament, in-tournament, and post-tournament discussion about the '25 LLWS.

You're more than welcome to discuss the International bracket. I generally don't get too involved in that bracket, unless one team is dominating.

The United States bracket starts with two games on 8/13. The Mountain Region winner will play the Great Lakes Region winner, and later that day the Southwest Region winner will play the Metro Region winner.

As always, congratulations to all of the teams that made it to Williamsport, and best of luck to each of them.

The Grand Slam Parade, in its 19th year, is the kick-off to the 78th Little League World Series® and will welcome the 20 teams that have made it to the 2025 Little League World Series®. WNEPTV, the ABC affiliate out of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, is our broadcast television partner and will air it live on their main station.

Who is everyone picking? South Carolina looked really tough against Mass earlier today so early pick is I like them on the US side.

Chinese Taipei has a pitcher easily throwing 85+ and he homered in his lead off spot in the first. They’re gonna be hard to beat.

PA can’t hit. The South Dakota team has a couple of guys who can hit. South Carolina has a guy who can really mash. I hate the rule to bat 12 guys.

In the USA bracket:

G1: Southeast Region - 13, New England Region - 0

G2: Midwest - 2, Mid-Atlantic Region - 0

Sadly, that knocks the PA team (Glenmoore Eagle/Mid-Atlantic Region) into the Elimination bracket. They'll next play Great Lakes Region on Saturday (8/16). Losing an opening round game really makes it tough to win the LLWS. Glenmoore's schedule, if they win their opening game in the Elimination bracket would be a game on 8/17, then a game on 8/19, then a game on 8/20, then a game on 8/21 to get to the US Championship game on 8/23. If they lose any of those games, then they are eliminated.


The Friday games in the USA bracket:

G1: Northwest Region vs. Mountain Region
G2: West Region vs. Metro Region

In the USA bracket:

G1: Mountain Region - 5, Northwest Region - 3

G2: Metro Region - 5, West Region - 1

Mountain Region and Metro Region advance to the Winner's Bracket semis, which will be played on Monday (8/18)


The Saturday games in the USA bracket will take place in the Elimination Bracket:

G1: Southwest Region vs. New England Region
G2: Great Lakes Region vs. Mid-Atlantic Region (the PA State Champ, Glenmoore Eagle)

In the USA bracket, in the Elimination Bracket:

G1: New England Region - 7, Southwest Region - 3

G2: Great Leakes Region - 3, Mid-Atlantic Region - 2

PA's team (Glenmoore Eagle) was the Mid-Atlantic Region champion. As such, their season comes to an end. It's not quite the LLWS showing they were hoping for, I presume. But it was fun to watch them.

Sunday's games in the USA bracket will again take place in the Elimination Bracket:

G1: Northwest Region vs. New England Region
G2: Great Lakes Region vs. West Region

As such, the Massachusetts team and the Illinois team have their seasons come to an end.

Monday's games in the USA bracket will again take place in the Winner's Bracket:

G2: Metro Region (Connecticut) vs. Midwest Region (South Dakota)

Tonight, the Seattle Mariners and the New York Mets will play at Bowman Field in the Little League Classic.

In the USA bracket, in the Winner's Bracket:

G1: Southeast Region (South Carolina) - 0, Mountain Region (Nevada)- 1

G2: Metro Region (Connecticut) - 13, Midwest Region (South Dakota) - 1

As such, the South Carolina team and the South Dakota team drop down to the Elimination Bracket.

And the Nevada team and the Connecticut team will play in the Winner's bracket final on Wednesday (8/20).

Tuesday's games in the USA bracket will again take place in the Elimination Bracket:

G1: Southeast Region (South Carolina) vs. West Region (Hawaii)

As such, the Hawaii team and the Washington team have their seasons come to an end.

Wednesday's games in the USA bracket will take place in both the Winner's Bracket and the Elimination Bracket.

G1 is in the Winner's Bracket, and is the Winner's Bracket final, for the right to play in the U.S. Championship game.

G1: Mountain Region (Nevada) vs. Metro Region (Connecticut)

G2 is in the Elimination Bracket. The winner of that game will advance to the Elimination Bracket final against the loser of Wednesday's G1, and the loser will have their season come to an end.

G2: Midwest Region (South Dakota) vs. Southeast Region (South Carolina)

In the International Bracket, Latin America will play Asia-Pacific in the Winner's Bracket final, while in the Elimination Bracket Caribbean will face Japan, with the winner to advance to the Elimination Bracket final against the loser of the Latin America vs. Asia-Pacific game.

In the USA Winner's Bracket final:

G1: Mountain Region (Nevada) - 3, Metro Region (Connecticut) - 7

As such, the Connecticut team advances to the US Championship game, which will be held on Saturday (8/23), while the Nevada team drops into the Elimination Bracket final, which will be held on Thursday (8/21).

In the USA Elimination Bracket

G2: Midwest Region (South Dakota) - 6, Southeast Region (South Carolina) - 7

As such, South Carolina advances to the Elimination Bracket final, which will be held on Thursday (8/21). And sadly, South Dakota's season comes to an end.

Thursday's games in the USA bracket are the aforementioned Elimination Bracket final:

G1: Mountain Region (Nevada) vs. Southeast Region (South Carolina)

On the International side of the brackets, G1 was the Winner's Bracket final, where Asia-Pacific defeated Latin America, 7-3. As such Asia-Pacific advances to the International Championship game, which will be held on Saturday (8/23). G2 was the Elimination Bracket semifinal, where the Caribbean defeated Japan, 3-0. As such, Caribbean advances to the Elimination Bracket final, where they'll take on Latin America on Thursday (8/21), while Japan's season comes to a close.

G2: Mountain Region (Nevada) - 5, Southeast Region (South Carolina) - 3

As such, South Carolina's season comes to an end, one game before the U.S. Championship. And Nevada advances to the U.S. Championship Game, which will be a replay of the Winner's Bracket final, between Metro Region (Connecticut) and Mountain Region (Nevada). The U.S. Championship Game will be played on Saturday (8/23) @ 3:30 pm EDT.

In the International Elimination Bracket

G1: Caribbean - 3, Latin America - 1.

As such, Latin America's season comes to and end, one game short of the International Championship Game. And Caribbean advances to the International Championship Game, which will be a replay of one of the International Bracket semifinals, between Asia-Pacific and Caribbean. The International Championship Game will be played on Saturday (8/23) @ 12:30 pm EDT.

I disagree.

After some early control issues, Nevada's pitcher has been overpowering CT. That's not uncommon with an elite pitcher, at any level of baseball. Things have a way of changing as pitch counts rise, and batters see a pitcher a 2nd or 3rd time, so only time will tell how this game plays out. But CT didn't get to the U.S. Championship by being bewildered.

That marked the 2nd time in the LLWS that Asia-Pacific had defeated Caribbean.
