Sidun will face #3 JoJo Burke in the final @3pm Eastern.
Sidun/Burke will be an interesting contrast in body types. Sidun has a very short and powerful build; Burke is tall and lanky. I can’t imagine that Burke’s length can overcome Sidun’s power.PSU > Pitt in the semis.
Burke last year won NJ states, won Escape the Rock (MD over Farnsworth in the finals), Powerade finalist (lost to Karenbauer in rideouts), medaled at Beast. He should've been the 2 seed ahead of Gallegos.
Sidun still wins comfortably, but this was the best test available.
... and there goes my first pick. Everybody got what they paid for.Dom Deputy and the Chestnut Ridge corner were not happy about the officiating during his semifinal match vs Dinges. Admittedly, Deputy was the aggressor much of the match. Dinges ultimately won 2-1 in 2OT
Sumpolec is a SR and the favorite to win states this year. He's had a lot of good wins in the past 2 years. We'd all like to see Hutcherson finish that match -- up 2-0 late in the 3rd, lost 4-3 -- but he's an upperweight SO right there with one of the best wrestlers in the country.I am trying really hard to make Mario Hutcherson an elite prospect that PSU should pursue but I see him lose too many matches I think he should win. He’s young so time on his side. Never want to peak too early.
Yeah mee too, not aging to well.... and there goes my first pick. Everybody got what they paid for.
Really good win for Whitbred. Hohman finished S2 at Bassett's weight last year, and will probably finish S2 behind Bassett again this year.James Whitbred DEC Hudson Hohman 5-3 (TB2)
Whitbred will face Michael Turi from Wyoming Seminary in the 3rd place match.
Thanks, Pete!121: Final- #1 Landon Sidun vs. #3 JoJo Burke (SJR)

Landon Sidun takes 1st Place!
Fun match! Closer than the score indicates. 17-13 with Brown pressing the action. Had Forrest on his heels.Jax had a little trouble in finals. Grea action. Wins 20-13. Don't think Jax is ready to threaten yet at 133 in college.
He looked sluggish and gassed in the semis, he didn't look so gassed in the finals but still very sluggish. Can't take anything away from Brown though, he fought till the end and looked like he might have been able to pull off an upset. I am not really a Jax or BM fan either. I do like to watch him wrestle but very rarely root for him.Jax had a little trouble in finals. Grea action. Wins 20-13. Don't think Jax is ready to threaten yet at 133 in college.
I thought refs called it right, but the score people screwing up in the second killed the match's rhythm. Also, the final score should have been 21-13; these major tournaments (outside of ETR don't take offense Dice) just stink at getting competent scorekeepers.Jax had a little trouble in finals. Great action. Wins 20-13. Personally I don't think Jax is ready to threaten at 133 in college just yet. Any thoughts on the cradle sequence Brown locked up with under a minute to go? Takedown?
Thank you that should be a great oneBurnett will have Zinkin in finals of Brecksville Invitational (on Flo) shortly. Finals started at 132 I believe so this will be the last match.
Sumpolec is a SR and the favorite to win states this year. He's had a lot of good wins in the past 2 years. We'd all like to see Hutcherson finish that match -- up 2-0 late in the 3rd, lost 4-3 -- but he's an upperweight SO right there with one of the best wrestlers in the country.
Also this was Hutcherson's first loss of the year, so maybe he's doing OK.

Mario fought back for 3rd. Sumpolec lost in finals. I have watched Mario for a few years and am a fan. I’m hoping he jumps levels over next couple years and stays more aggressive when ahead.
I was already high on Brown but that match made me even higher, he was down 15-2 at one point before scoring 3 unanswered TDs against Jax freaking Forrest. He is currently #59 on the Senior Big Board but based on his body of work this year I would expect him to be much higher at years endCan't take anything away from Brown though, he fought till the end and looked like he might have been able to pull off an upset.
Jax had a little trouble in finals. Great action. Wins 20-13. Personally I don't think Jax is ready to threaten at 133 in college just yet. Any thoughts on the cradle sequence Brown locked up with under a minute to go? Takedown?
Forrest also beat Corbin 9-1 in the semis. Corbin and Brown are both good prospects, but they're not nearly on the level of Blaze, Davino, Byrd, Frost, Ayala, Larkin, Campbell, Knox, Seidel ... and he'd have to beat 2-3 of those guys to make the podium. In 7-minute matches.Jax had a little trouble in finals. Great action. Wins 20-13. Personally I don't think Jax is ready to threaten at 133 in college just yet. Any thoughts on the cradle sequence Brown locked up with under a minute to go? Takedown?
Seidel F Ortega 4:59 in the Midlands finals, was up 5-3 at the time. Pinned him with a 2-on-1 tilt, lame by Ortega, but Seidel would've been up 9-3 without the fall being called.BTW, they're into the semis -- and most likely the finals will be true FR Seidel vs. Iowa State RTC's 27-yo Cuban 2x U23 champ Reineri Ortega. Ortega is the guy suing the NCAA for eligibility.
Great job from Cedar Cliff's kid. He and Herndon are really good, but Herndon was no match for Jax.133: R16- #4 Braiden Weaver vs. UR Kavin Muyleart
Muyleart was solid.
Kavin Muyleart DEC Braiden Weaver 3-0

Sidun broke Burke. That was impressive.Sidun/Burke will be an interesting contrast in body types. Sidun has a very short and powerful build; Burke is tall and lanky. I can’t imagine that Burke’s length can overcome Sidun’s power.
