Waiting for some coaches or their agents " INTERESTED " in opening positions to get
themselves raises.
Seen this move before, especially last year, and I'll bet a few of these universities
are sorry they did.

One big MD donor I know has him at the top of his list. He said md secretly wants the interim guy to win a few games so they can keep him though.
I can see that. I wouldn't mind him coming here but I want zero to do with Locksley. I know Chris Buchignani was really pushing for Locksley but NFW.

Adding Nebraska to the hot seat list. Rhule is 22-24 overall and 12-20 in the Big Ten and makes $12mm a year.

I think his record against top 25 teams is 2-26
But Nebraska really E'fd up and gave him that new contract and his buyout is, I think, 63 million. I'm guessing he'll be at Nebraska a couple more years. But holy cow did the Husker nation turn on him. It could get James Franklin, NW, ugly the next couple of weeks.

I'll take a stab at why I think there will be - or perhaps maybe I should say, SHOULD BE - interest from FSU. First, if those of us who aren't BGJ fans truly remove our biases, we can agree that when taken in totality, James is a very good, perhaps boarderline great coach. Not elite. He represents the university well, he recruits exceptionally well, and he wins the games he should win. If I'm FSU, all of that sounds wonderful right now after 2 decades of not living up to the standard.

I know you don't agree, but I think James is having a pretty good first year. The Pitt loss was bad, but they really should have won that game. The kicker makes that kick 99/100 times. He just took his squad into Clemson and came out with a win in year 1. That's not beating Alabama, but it's not nothing. We'll see how he fares this weekend against SMU and later vs. Miami. Season is far from over so we can revisit his performance in several weeks and perhaps I'll feel differently.

Tallahassee offers a much bigger stage for James, with significantly more donor money, a strong history that he can sell, and fertile recruiting ground. And the man has an ego. He wants to be sure that there is no doubt in anyone's mind that he won the divorce with Penn State. You can't really do that in Blacksburg.

If I'm FSU, James is exactly the guy I want. He stays in the ACC and doesn't have to play an Oregon, Ohio State, Bama, or Georgia each year which have been his bugaboo. You give him what they have to offer and he's getting FSU into the playoffs each year, damn near guaranteed.

I think James is a very good coach. I just don't believe he's capable of winning a title nor do I think he wants the pressure associated with expectations.
I believe FSU will be searching for upside not "Richt 2.0". We saw what happened with Richt in Miami.
I could be wrong--happens to the best of us--but I don't see Franklin getting any call nor do I believe he wants one
He may try to get more money by using Florida State though--if he does--kudos to him

They could pass on him and go after one of the other 125 or so coaches that have no shot at winning a NC either.

But do you go with the unknown guy that COULD be the next Smart/Cignetti or do you play it safe and hire Franklin knowing you'll eventually replace him once he stabilizes the program? I think FSU swings big--Franklin is a safe play.

Nobody who’s taken a big swing has hit a home run in a long time.
