Keck vs Savadkouhi on mat 2

Shamsipour vs Gamkredlidze on mat 3. Shamsipour beat Kougio and Gamkredlidze beat Zahid

Keck up 2-1 1:30 in

2-1 at the break

Keck controlling center but not many attacks

Great defense by Keck off a good attack and he somehow turns it into his own td. Amazing wrestling by Keck 4-1

Another incredible defensive sequence by Keck where he looks dead to rights but comes out on top. 7-1 Keck but Iran is challenging

Challenge won. Score is now 5-5 with Keck down on criteria. Huge challenge. 4 for Iran and 1 for Parker

Keck strikes with a quick td to take the lead back. 7-5

Keck defends and runs behind for 2. 9-5

Iran is exhausted

Keck wins 9-5 against a very high level Savadkouhi. Great win. Keck to the finals. He is wrestling as well as I’ve ever seen him

Gamkredlidze beats Shamsipour 2-2 on criteria

57 Spencer Lee and RBY are the gold match
61 DeSanto won 3 of 4 round robin, most points should be gold
65 McKenna into bronze match
70 Henson and Parker into bronze matches
74 Carr into finals, Green into bronze match
86 Keckeisen into gold match, Valencia into bronze match

Bottom line, team USA has a medal round representative at all weights. Tough break for Kasak, your opponent doesn't always draw you back in.

Semis are over. They are going into repechage now which I won’t be doing pbp for. Fun first session. RBY, Carr, and Keck were the bright spots. Biggest upset is Zahid getting teched. I always root for the US but I’m never sad seeing Zahid get beat
just curious, did Zahid get pulled into repechage?

Desanto wins 11-11 on criteria with a td in the last :05 against Momeni from Iran!!
A longgggg review after the matches. Probably 5 minutes and still going. Desanto is pissed. Not sure what’s happening

Wow!! After 5+ min the review comes back and Desanto loses. No idea what happened

Desanto wrestled and won next round so the result must have gotten changed again. Bizarre
Crap like this is why I'm OK with getting a bad ref in some dual. Gotta be prepared to beat both the opponent and the ref.

Is there anybody more wildly inconsistent in recent years than Zahid?

Can't wait for Levi to go up to 86 for 2028 Olympic Trials. He's as consistent as they get, and at a high level.

He sure seems like he doesn't always show up in peak condition. Looked to be gassing after the first exchange.

Anyone got a mat assignment for finals? Need to turn it on and hit pause while I take a useless work meeting.

Wait, amattaro you work? I thought you just travel to PSU wrestling events all over the country taking awesome pics of your kids with wrestling royalty.

Is your work hiring? I want in on that action!
I am a work from home OG from way back in 2015. Fell *** backward into it. Was working in Florida for a job primed out of Los Angeles. Our development effort completed and most of the team in Florida went to other stuff. The Los Angeles team wanted to keep me on, so I happily stayed. About a month into that I looked around the Florida office and said to myself “WTF am I coming in for? Everybody I work with is 3000 miles away.” My manager was in San Diego. So I stopped coming in. A few weeks later I get a call from him “Florida people said you haven’t been in office.” I start sweating. He says “they say they are short on space, can they have your desk?” Been at home ever since, with some infrequent travel, enough to keep entertain me.

Happily trade career advancement for personal benefit. My work day is driven by “if the minimum wasn’t enough, it wouldn’t be the minimum.”

Keck beat the guy who teched Zahid. With that and Keck beating Zahid at RAF looks like Keck is the favorite to be our 86kg rep. Carr beat Aoyagi in the finals who's been at penn st training a bit

That's awesome. I'm in a sort of similar situation; definitely at the point where I am trading career advancement for better quality of life. I work for a large health and wellness company where everybody is on site. I'm not sure if there is anyone else WFH in the company of 6,000+ employees. I was a senior director, managing a large team and traveling a lot. When they asked everybody to come back to office when COVID chaos died down (like December '20), I told my boss (CMO) that I no longer wanted to manage a team (managing 30+ WFH employees was a nightmare) or travel, and that I wasn't coming back in office. I was planning on retiring in 2-3 years anyway and my wife made more than I did, so it wasn't a big deal if I was let go. They made a role for me and allowed me to stay home, and I'm still doing it. I'm at a glass ceiling, but so happy.

As it turns out, we got a surprise in '24. I'm 45, with 14 and 10yr olds...and now a 1yr old. I was all set to retire any time, but another kid meant a bigger house, a minivan, another college education to pay for, and my wife decided to stay home with my son. I'll probably be working another 10yrs or so. I don't think there is a compensation offer that could get me to go back in office; haven't missed a kids' sporting event in 5yrs and nothing like taking a break in the middle of the day to go to BJJ class or take my son to the park.
