HWC looking good at this tourney. Gold at 57, 61, and 97. If only they had anyone at any other weights

kept getting injured at 86kg, wants to go 97kg for next olympics. I guess he doesn't think going 92 in the middle is worth it
Sine 92kg is a non-Olympic weight he probably wants to stay at 97kg to acclimate to the weight and get exposed to some of the competitors he may face.

I never understood that phrase. Wasn’t the playing field always level among NCAA teams? It was just a matter of whether your team is stronger or Penn State’s team is stronger. If uncle Bob did this or that thing to make Iowa stronger, it has nothing to do with the playing field. It has to do with his own team.

Is there anybody more wildly inconsistent in recent years than Zahid?

Can't wait for Levi to go up to 86 for 2028 Olympic Trials. He's as consistent as they get, and at a high level.
He has never appeared to actually care about his conditioning. Then he looked awesome against Mark Hall. Then the drug suspension. After that I kinda figured he was mostly done. Out of nowhere he's a World Champion. And today he loses 11-0 but comes back for the bronze . It's been a ride. Lol

Father time, injuries and a 24 pound weight jump are formidable obstacles to try to overcome.
Strangely...there were two guys who appeared very tired half way through the 1st period. Both struggled throughout with fatigue. Perhaps it was the short time between matches. Buchanan was suffering but it looked like Yazdanicharati was suffering more. Can't see either of those efforts getting a gold medal.

It’s going to be interesting to see what Iran does at 97kg at worlds. The Yaz we saw today isn’t close to competing with top guys but this is his first tournament back and I expect him to round into form. Iran already has Azapira who was world silver last year only losing to Snyder. He had beaten Snyder earlier in the year and he beat Taz 5-2 in the world semis. I would think Azapira might just be the better guy at this point in Yazdani’s career but will politics play a role? Yaz is one of the best to ever do it in Iran. Will be fascinating to watch it play out
