286-0, 2001 Outback Bowl, and 1994 Choke at Doak.

We led the 2001 Outback Bowl 28-0 and then let Ohio State tie the dam game at 28-28. Then we won 31-28. I didn't see that one get mentioned this weekend.

In a battle of 9-1 teams, 1994 Florida led FSU 31-3 in Tallahassee and then let Bowden + Seminoles tie the dam game at 31. It ended in a tie known as the "Choke at Doak".

286-0 means nothing. Nobody can remember anything, anymore.

What does matter? Character, integrity, ethics, etc. and not wasting $millions on football. That is where we have failed as a program, state, nation, and beyond. We waste fortunes for nothing.

You didn't read/listen close enough.

The 286-0 record was in SEC play since 2004. Neither of the games you mentioned fit the criteria.

You didn't understand my post.

We ALL know the 286-0 stat, obviously.

But it would have been more interesting, more relevant, and more fair to say:
"Wow, 27 points is the biggest lead given up by an SEC team since...the Outback Bowl on New Years Day 2002!
When SOUTH CAROLINA blew a 28-point lead, but they won and beat Ohio State 2x straight!"

Basically they ignored that interesting connection and chose to just crap on us.
But it wasn't really that embarrassing. After all, we did it to Ohio State and FSU did it to a great Florida team coached by SOS.

You didn't understand my post.

I think he did. You brought up the 286-0 stat, then listed two games you thought were left out.

He pointed out how those two games were not SEC games, and therefore not included in the stat.

As for missing priorities, I see your point. My wife, when she was younger, liked to watch awards shows like the Oscars. I used to comment how some of the most worthless people were getting paid a LOT of money for something like acting, and she would also mention athletes.

These people are filthy rich for crying on cue, or playing a game. But the truth is, they are paid that because we choose to watch. We go to games, we buy the jerseys.

It becomes important because our attention makes it so. And i say "we" as a nation. Obviously not all of us give our attention to the same things.

That stat is irrelevant, though. We blew a 27-point lead and lost.

We didn't lose the Outback bowl, so that's why that one wouldn't make the list regardless. It doesn't count as a choke unless the team with the lead fails to win the game. Though the margins are narrow, there's a gigantic difference between almost choking and choking.

I don't disagree at all with most of what the OP says about priorities. But, of course, this is a Gamecocks forum, so within the narrow parameters of this forum, the topic matters quite a bit.

Good grief.

As you can see, @God_Gave_Us_Brains , you violated board policy by not posting the same redundant lamentations over and over and over ad nauseum until you either sprained your wrist or your thumbs, whichever came first. There is no place for sensibilities here because the populace is embarrassed, angry, and seeking their pound of flesh. There are posters on here that actually and openly hope we lose the upcoming game because in their world, that makes sense.

Hence stupid posts like the one quoted.

Plus he's wrong. I want to beat Coastal. 🙂

Someone else posted about wanting to lose to force a staff turnover.

This clown just lumps any poster who hurts his feelings together as one and whines about all of us as if we're one person.

Come to think of it, he was the guy following along with coopie and saying a bunch of us were all the same poster.

(Which makes his new puppy love affair with 18 even more odd. I just think hes lonely)

Yet, you just remembered the 2001 Outback Bowl and a 1994 game between UF and FSU.
So yes, people remember.

Wouldn't it be nice if we paid great teachers of our kids this king of dough. 19 year olds making 4M a year to play a sport.

He violated common sense by posting a totally unrelated statistic to try disproving another statistic.

That was kind of obvious from the get go. You know that stat about SEC games, well here's some non-SEC games that disprove it!

Doesn't make much sense, and makes one wonder why someone would rush to defend it. But, one poster is suffering from some severely hurt feelings. :)

Did you notice the OP went back and edited post #3 on the thread after I explained how he was messing up the stat? Even he knew it was wrong and tried to cover it up with claiming a different stat would be "more interesting".

Whose "we"? If there's a way to get ESPN to pay for classroom broadcasting rights and if tickets can be sold upwards of $100 each then sure teachers can be paid much more handsomely.

Nah.

Y'all are just not smart enough to think a little outside the box.
And you like to fight rather than think.

But thank you for reminding me why I stopped posting in this cesspool.

Instead of doubling down when you make a mistake, sometimes its just easier to say " my bad, didn't see where it was a stat about just SEC games". Its really easier and cleaner.

As for you stopping posting in this cesspool? I dont know if you realize, but you can click on a posters name, and see when they joined. You can also see their number of posts, and click the link to look at them.

I tell you this because its easy to see you joined Wednesday, and your total of 3 posts were all on this thread. Hard for you to have stopped posting here if you never had before.

Here's where you claim you created a new account, just for this thread. Because that makes so much more sense than just admitting you made that up because it sounded like a good insult. You know, going along with the "doubling down" motif.

All that could really be summed up with:

Okay, bye.
