Starmount and Corvian are the 2 teams to beat in the west I believe as well. East Wilkes, Murphy, and Mitchell are the teams to watch after them. You can throw on CSD potentially. Alleghany could find their way into it but I think they are a year away. But, they could step up and shock East or Starmount.

I think this week will tell alot about Corvian. If they struggle with LNC, they may not be all that. If they take care of business as they should then they'll be on cruise control heading to CSD.

I still don't know what to make of the Independence win.

They are no doubt a good team. But people were making them out to be 2019 east surry because they beat a bad Independence team.

If we're talking just 2A west, the front runners have to be Starmount and Corvian. I would put Murphy in tier two. If Murphy loses to AC Reynolds or Westside, that will give them two loses and with the SMC being down this year, I could see them having a lower RPI and them having to play on the road during the later rounds of playoffs.

All other teams mentioned, East Wilkes, Alleghany, CSD, and Mitchell could be sleepers to upset some teams but don't see them being able to come out of the west.

I hope you didn't make this because it is complete trash. People need to start reviewing the crap that AI spits out.

These RPI rankings are putting teams that are not that good above others. At the end of the season the best teams will rise in the playoffs. The 1A is the same.

Teams have, at most, played three games so far. The RPI rankings for this week compared to in a few weeks will be drastically different.

Just image if the NFL tried to create their playoff brackets after week 5. I bet by week 10 and definitely by week 15 they would look very different. Same thing here.

I saw that top 50 list and no I haven’t posted any rankings except the official RPI ranking from NCHSAA.

To be honest I don’t look at any list unless it’s from HSOT, MaxPreps, Carolina Preps, Massey, Simmons, and Charlotte Observer.

I saw the same top 50 image on Facebook. Seems like it's being spread around, unless it's the same one that posted it here and Facebook? Either way, it's a terrible list.

Im sure someone has mentioned this but its kind of a joke that RPI isn't weighted by classification. Both Tarboro and Warren County have played all 4A, 5A, and 6A schools and yet until last week North Duplin was ranked #1 in the RPI after playing two 2A and now a 1A school. RPI is a good concept but if its not done properly then teams still will not be seeded appropriately.

I'm not against adding some type of weight for different classifications but I think higher classification teams will not want to play lower classification teams if it penalized them. The benefit of the 4A-6A teams playing Tarboro is Tarboro should have a good record and will raise all of their OWP in the RPI. There's no point in these 4A-6A teams to play a team their size that is going to be 2-8 and lower their OWP.

Also, it is still too early for RPI to be taken seriously. Just think, after the first week when half the teams are 1-0, they are all going to be ranked #1. The more games that are played, the more accurate the RPI will get (as mathematically ties in the SOS).

I’ve done some projecting and I think it’s going to be between Edenton and Tarboro for the 1 seed in the east. It’s going to come down to how each teams opponents finish the year.-

Warren County will probably be undefeated, but their OWP will most likely be too low to jump Tarboro or Edenton.

The wild card is North Duplin - if they can somehow go undefeated (I don’t think they will)….they will be the one seed.

We need havelock to start winning some games, and hope Northampton can squeeze a couple wins out. Beddingfield won’t win a game. We don’t want two winless teams working against us.
Havelock ought to pick up a win this week, and I still suspect they’ll do well in conference play.

Going back over my work tonight and found something I missed..Warren county is very much in play for the 1 seed as well.

High school OT picked them to beat Tarboro this year. They did return a lot from last year, but they have not played the toughest non-conference schedule compared to Tarboro.
Warren County tried to challenge itself with its non conference schedule. The schedules are done two years in advance and they scheduled all five non conference games against teams at least two classes above them. Unfortunately those teams have underperformed this year with the exception of Roanoke Rapids, who they play next week. But they have been dominant in their wins.

That seems trues. The teams Yall have scheduled are traditionally solid programs. You can’t control how good they are each year.

Good point. Exactly why only a team’s record and opponents’ record should be included in the formula for the playoffs. You have little control over how good your opponents are, much less how good their opponents are. Especially now that transfers play such a large role.
