I think this Murphy team may surprise a few if things continue to improve. They have the ability for a big pass play, qb has a big arm. Like the way the team is trending.
You can take a no contest which won't count towards rpi.I thought forfeits were supposed to count against RPI but Holmes has really benefited from first flight cancelling their season. They won’t have that winless record counting against them.
don’t think it'd be much of a surprise. the whole 2a has respect for clem and those guys out there.I think this Murphy team may surprise a few if things continue to improve. They have the ability for a big pass play, qb has a big arm. Like the way the team is trending.
Agree! I think most people here have said they wouldn’t be shocked to see Murphy in the runningdon’t think it'd be much of a surprise. the whole 2a has respect for clem and those guys out there.
Did it count as a win for them? If so it should count in RPI. I wish Weldon would have forfeited Friday. They only had about 14 players and early in the game the refs stopped the game and told us we were playing too rough lol. They wanted us to tackle and block them gently. It was non competitive.I thought forfeits were supposed to count against RPI but Holmes has really benefited from first flight cancelling their season. They won’t have that winless record counting against them.
Congrats on winning the Week 9 RPI championship
obviously i’m gonna be happy with the way things are shaping out for my cardinalsCongrats on winning the Week 9 RPI championship![]()

Yep absolutely. I am really confident because of corvians opponents they have already played compared to starmounts along with corvians one loss being to a top 5 team in the entire state while starmounts one loss being a 4-4 team in 2a. will definitely be interesting to follow as the seasons dwindles down and the weather gets colder. With both teams having two games left against teams with combined records of 8-8 currently, it will be interesting to see that OWP change just the slightest on both Starmount and Corvian.
The two teams that Starmount plays currently has a slightly higher combined OWP (which should help Starmounts OOWP) vs the two teams that Corvian plays. However, you also have to factor in the other game that each of those teams still have to play, as well as, factoring in the games left for each opponent both Starmount and Corvian have already played. Should be a close, fun race to finish out the season. Obviously, both Starmount and Corvian would have to win out to compete for the top seed in the west.
That loss to East Wilkes may come back and haunt Starmount if the OWP and OOWP can't bump them high enough.
I’m not trying to nitpick your theory, because I understand what you’re saying. But I think the game against Chambers would carry a lot more weight if y’all had been competitive. If Corvian had kept it within three scores, I think that would tell us a lot more about how good you actually are.Yep absolutely. I get that i’m just saying it’s more of a “helpful” loss compared to starmounts loss in my opinion.I’m not trying to nitpick your theory, because I understand what you’re saying. The problem is that Chambers dominated y’all in a way they would probably dominate most 2A teams. So, in my opinion, that game doesn’t really prove much one way or the other about Corvian. It tells us Chambers is on a different level, but it doesn’t necessarily tell us how Corvian stacks up against the better teams in 2A.
Could please tell us what Corvian's NIL budget is?in terms of resume ^
the same as everyone in 2a!Could please tell us what Corvian's NIL budget is?
You are right. Que Tucker only cares about the charters. Maybe the next Commissioner will address this issue. Larger publics can compete with charters but it’s really hard for smaller publics. Warren Coubty reached the 2A basketball state championship last year and I didn’t bother to go because I knew they had no chance against Queens Grant, a team playing in 2A that defeated the 8A state champs last season. It was ridiculous how much talent they had compiled.I totally agree. It’s bad enough that the NCHSAA allows private and charters to play against traditional programs….that built up their programs. The playing field is simply unfair and not on an even basis for traditional public schools to be limited to kids from their districts, while private and charters are allowed to accept recruited and transfer players that are sucked away from the school they probably should be playing for. The rules should apply to all, or either create a division for all private, charter schools.
It is unfortunate that there are no allowances or points given toward programs that play tougher schedules. At least in the MVAC, East Wilkes has played against 3A Mt Airy, 4A Hibriten, and 6A North Iredell; Starmount has played against 3A Mt Airy, 3A East Surry, and 4A Forbush. And Starmount has always tended to play up in classification……years past the Rams have played against West Forsyth, Davie County, (pre-Draughn) East Burke (all 4A at the time) and North Iredell. Tarboro just played Wilson Hunt.
My biggest issue with NCHSAA’s rules is allowing private/charter schools to compete evenly against traditional public schools that cannot recruit or accept transfers immediately without a waiting period.
I agree it’s not perfect - but it does for the most part get it close to being right, and it’s a clear criteria with no human bias. After seeing the latest RPI that has Warren County behind Edenton and barely above Manteo I’m ready to say that the RPI needs tweaking. The way you control games and dominate your opponents needs to be factored in. You could say it would encourage routs but you already have the running clock and you could cap any benefit for margin of victory at 35. Brian Simmons rankings are a more accurate reflection of the strengh of teams. NCHSAA needs to adopt a version of what he is doing.

I’m sure they would win but would they dominate every team with 8 consecutive shutouts. All I’m saying is that RPI should consider more than just wins and losses. And I believe Warren County would be undefeated playing playing Tarboro or Edenton schedule. Tarboro schedule challenging no doubt but I don’t see any team on their schedule we couldnt beat. I do think Tarboro has earned the top seed. No gripe there. But I don’t think Edenton has outperformed us to deserve the 2. But life isn’t fair so we will just have to go on the road and prove we are better.I agree it’s not perfect - but it does for the most part get it close to being right, and it’s a clear criteria with no human bias.
As far as how it relates to Warren this year - I know it’s hard to fathom them being undefeated and being a 3 seed - but if I’m being honest if Holmes and Tarboro played Warrens schedule, the results would be exactly the same.
it’s just unfortunate for Warren that this year some of the teams in the non conference that are normally good teams are just having down years.
Manteo is easily the most overrated team in 2A RPIWell Manteo will lose to Edenton next week, so Warren County doesn’t have to worry about getting jumped in the RPI by them
i concede. You’re right. Warren is great. I just hope my Vikings can score so we don’t end up on one of those doughnut videos I’ve seen on Facebook.I’m sure they would win but would they dominate every team with 8 consecutive shutouts. Id take Rocky Mount, hunt and Havelock over Warren respectfully.I’m sure they would win but would they dominate every team with 8 consecutive shutouts. Are you sure about that? I mean Warren has had 8 straight shutouts against teams with a combined record of 23-46…not sure any of those 3 teams want any part of that.Id take Rocky Mount, hunt and Havelock over Warren respectfully.
You meant the Hunt team that got running clocked by Northern, 5-4 Havelock and Rocky Mount that just got clock run by Hunt?Id take Rocky Mount, hunt and Havelock over Warren respectfully.
i concede. You’re right. Warren is great. I just hope my Vikings can score so we don’t end up on one of those doughnut videos I’ve seen on Facebook.
but if we do play, make sure your coach’s bring those dumbbells and lift weights on the sideline like I saw them doing on Friday against KIPP Pride.
Funny. Obviously we can’t shut Tarboro out. I’m confident but I’m not delusional. I actually thought our coaches antics Friday were a little over the top. A Kipp coach trash talked after they beat us last season but they are so down this year that I didn’t think we needed to even respond. But I can’t tell other people how to react to sleights.i concede. You’re right. Warren is great. I just hope my Vikings can score so we don’t end up on one of those doughnut videos I’ve seen on Facebook.

I'm very confident all three would beat Warren. Hunt lost to a 6A School, Havelock has played an actual difficult schedule, and Rocky Mount gave Tarboro all they wanted. I stand by what I saidYou meant the Hunt team that got running clocked by Northern, 5-4 Havelock and Rocky Mount that just got clock run by Hunt? Please. They are all good teams but we could beat all three. We can’t beat Northern Nash. We can’t beat Rose. But those three aren’t in that category.
I want to see what Warren does when they actually play a team that can get a snap off consistently. I haven’t seen Holmes so I can’t speak to them - but I have a pretty good idea what’s gonna happen if they run up against Tarboro.I'm very confident all three would beat Warren. It’s been a running clock the last two years. Hopefully they can at least score a point this yearI want to see what Warren does when they actually play a team that can get a snap off consistently. Lost meaning got destroyed? What you’re doing is elevating Tarboro by saying that they beat a bunch of world beaters. They beat some good but not great teams and lost to a team that’s good but not great. How do you figure Warren County and Edenton couldn’t do the same? Rocky Mount beat Nash Central 27-0. We beat them 44-0. Rocky Mount beat Vance 45-6. We beat them 55-12, with their last touchdown scored at the end of the game when we had 9 players on the field but the refs refused to give us a timeout because he said the game was over. I’m trying to understand your position.I'm very confident all three would beat Warren. Hunt lost to a 6A School, Havelock has played an actual difficult schedule, and Rocky Mount gave Tarboro all they wanted. I stand by what I said
Thanks for the reminder but kids get older and kids graduate and so the teams aren’t the same as the last two years if you didn’t know. It’s been a running clock the last two years. Hopefully they can at least score a point this year![]()
Yall have only played one team with a winning record lol
You’re right it’s easy to record 8 straight shutouts. I wonder why it’s been 25 years since it’s been done. And I wonder how those sorry teams are managing to score against other schools. Are you sure about that? I mean Warren has had 8 straight shutouts against teams with a combined record of 23-46…not sure any of those 3 teams want any part of that.
it’s simple, Because they are playing other sorry teams. You’re right it’s easy to record 8 straight shutouts. I wonder why it’s been 25 years since it’s been done. And I wonder how those sorry teams are managing to score against other schools.![]()
That’s how the system works but if you’re expecting Tarboro to be a lot worse than what they were last year, then you’re going to be disappointed. Thanks for the reminder but kids get older and kids graduate and so the teams aren’t the same as the last two years if you didn’t know.
