Buckingham going to surprise some folk in the playoffs, Appomattox beat them this year, but that is one strong team. Big up front, strong D, and speed from Ragland will break you!
With the emergence of Sean Ayres on dline the defense has gotten better. 6-2 250lb with very good speed. Moved in to the starting line up during the William Campbell game and has been on a terror every since. 5tkls for loss and at least 2 sacks in every game with 4 sacks against pass happy Amelia.
I was just looking at the amelia game on VHSL Reference page, I didnt realize they were 6-1 when yall beat them?! So the Ayers kid wasnt there when we played yall?
Another thing, does Buckingham have a ring? I was looking on there and I could've sworn yall have one? Appomattox has been close throughout the years, but we dont have any in the "BIG 3" (Basketball, Football, Baseball). Sad due to all the talent that has come through them hallways.
Oh I looked at them hard....one loss...Appomattox wouldn't want to see the again..7 point game...blew just about everyone else out...all of the top 6 teams look real steady....looked to see if they had much chance of a loss the next 2 weeks...very doubtful...glenvar could lose to Radford but doubtful. ..Appomattox vs Amherst will be key game...but top six should remain in the top 6...bottom is a mess...probably won't know till last games done
We ain't in no hurry to see Appomattox again either. That game was like rock em sock em robots. Defenses dominated that game to the point where it made me question if either was just that bad on offense...now I know. We looked better once Gough took over at QB in second half we were able to move the ball but I think poor play calling help Appomattox with the 3 goal line stands. Appomattox did have 2tds called back for holding and block in the back. The difference being the fumble for TD. 4 turn over by Appomattox and still 7-7 at end of regulation. Stellar defense on both sides
If Gretna makes playoffs I hope Hawks play someone we have never played in playoffs or regular season before. I would hate to play Appomattox again.
I would love to see a Gretna Richlands match up. Such a great program it would be a very good atmosphere.
If we make playoffs, were are going to have to travel. Might as well be to Union. Always good to see other parts of the states.
