1967-68 finished 8-6 and in 4th place.
Year before I got there. Some OK teams during that stretch including one early in that time that had a 10 point lead at half against UCLA with Alcinder. Second half he fouled everyone out and they took over. Some moments but no depth. Real struggles started then as BB had some of the same problems with the administration that FB did. I remember a team playing Purdue with Rick Mount (I think) They used a box and one against him to win.

Start Berry and Beran. They’re streaky offensively, give the min to the hot hand + Barnhizer.
I'm not advocating for Barnhizer to start. In fact, what Coach Collins is doing has been refreshingly successful. The starters, as a unit, have played well. 20% of the minutes. 257-242 total score in the 19 games against Power 6 teams (plus Liberty). Thats a dramatic improvement over last year (213-241, 14.6% of minutes) and the year before that (255-296, 20% of minutes).

Collins regularly plays the starters at the opening of each half and then never again. That always struck me as weird - you'd think that our "best lineup" would play more together, not just at the start of each half. The good news is that this season Collins is not regularly playing lineups that have a history of underperforming. In the past couple years we stubbornly insisted on playing lineups that were toxic to our overall performance.

In addition, Collins seems committed to having Barnhizer on the floor in crunch time. Thats quite the compliment to Barnhizer. And the results support it.
