30 minutes is the gold standard

The first game plan fix to seeing this team reaching its potential is to get your best 4 players averaging 30 minutes in P4 games. Analytics mean nothing if you don't have your best players on the floor 75% of the time. Yes, sometimes foul trouble may skew the numbers, but Pope has tried to please too many people and it's open the door for locker room problems, and other things.

I don’t think it’s about pleasing people. I think he’s seen something in the numbers that makes him believe the best way to win is to split the minutes that way.

Again, analytics mean nothing if you don't have your best players on the floor, if you have 10 guys that need equal minutes then they better be NBA caliber players and we have zero of those
I’m not saying I disagree with you. I’m saying I’m not convinced Pope doesn’t.

Analytics are fools gold if you include the production #'s against Cupcake U. If you wanna look at advanced metrics use data collected against other Power 1 schools. We are abysmal in Quad 1 games.

Pope’s analytics and advanced metrics tells him and the staff that BG is on the cusp of becoming the next Nikola Jokic.

Like I said in another post. The players that should get the most minutes in order are:

Aberdeen
Moreno
Chandler
Mo D
Williams
Johnson
Jelly

Oweh should get less until his effort and attitude changes.

BG should get less until his effort changes.

Noah should just be breather minutes. I hate it but he's not ready.

Starters should be:

Aberdeen
Johnson***
Chandler
Mo D
Moreno

- Motion + Backdoor + Pick and Roll Offense with a 1 2 1 defense, man to man and zone.

Williams first of bench
Oweh for Johnson, Chandler or Aberdeen.
Jelly next
Garrison for Moreno breather.

Noah scrap minutes.

***Why Johnson? Because he clearly has offensive potential and he create. He is clearly uncomfortable playing PG and his body language doesn't want to do it. He also has chemistry with Moreno which is something we need. Yes he shoots it too early and too much. That is selfish. After thinking about it, on the other side of the coin, maybe it's his way of getting going in an offensive rhythm. I don't know. Not sticking up for the selfish play. Just seeing it from the other side of the coin.

2015 style teams are the only ones who need that kinda distribution.

I'd settle for 28 minutes but I agree totally with the thought. If your best 3 players aren't playing over double the minutes of the 8-10 guys, then you aren't utilizing your talent properly.
