Talk about a football game! One team may lose, but I think both teams will benefit come playoff time.

Wilmington looks good and I can definitely see a 3A clash with Byron in 3A. I think Wilmington cound win a close one here.

Cats 1st down run, then 2 procedure penalties - if you dont understand motion in the double wing dont ref... punt inside 10

CC is good. Physical up front. Wilmington has won the majority of games the past 20 years, but this looks like one of CCs best teams.

CC is carving it up on offense, but the Cats offensively have to do something to loosen it up. I don’t think they have the bodies to bang away. I alluded to that earlier in the week 8 thread. At any rate this is s good game for them heading into the 3 A playoffs. Hope both teams come out healthy.

Looked like a peanut punch fumble on that 3rd down pass. Next play Jezik goes for about 40 yds. Wilmington needs a big stop here.

29-14 final CC wins

CC is pretty tough. 4A north will be a gauntlet but CC should be in the mix.

Cats inside kick, Coalers cover at 49. Get to 1st & 10 inside 10, Coaler injury, coaches meet at midfield while injury being taken care of, then Coaler run clock out.

Final 29-14 CC

First time attending a game at Coal City. Was surprised Wilmington seemed a bit flat in the 1st half of a rivalry game such as this. Got some key turnovers and showed more fight in the 2nd half, but just got too far down. Jezik is the real deal.

Packed house tonight...Those of us that watch Wilmington regularly might tell you that the way the game started is how Reents wanted them to start emotionally. It isn't unusual to watch the Wildcats 3 and out on their first possession, Southall wants them like a machine. Coalers march right down & score. Cats respond with a fairly typical ground chewing end of 1st Q. Third & 1 fumble at 10 killed them. I was surprised that given how easily Jezik sliced the Cat defense up on the first possession that they didn't go for it on fourth & 3 there...missed FG, you could see the air going out of them...

And its been a while since I've seen Reents scream at them like he did right before half...

I've been regularly watching double wing teams in the I-8 and now ICE since 2002. For years I thought the wing movement was a procedure penalty...then I started watching Wilmo every week And going to Bobcat practice. Although it is a strange movement, it isn't illegal motion or a procedure penalty...repeatedly getting flagged for procedure on the wing in motion just wrecks the timing and puts the Cats in long yardages the offense is not designed for...Normal fans get a three yard run on first down and are unhappy, Wilmo fans are going "The offense is working..."lol. An attitude like that often is considered being flat...

Wilmington moved the ball fairly decent but against the good teams they will stall quite a bit unless they have something to open things up. CC has a tough defensive front and the line play was the difference today. CC owned the LOS on both sides. CC has a nice team that should challenge IC and SF for the 4A north spot.

Kudos to the stripes crew to have the balls to consistently call illegal procedure on Wilmo offense. I agree that its really close every play but they could of called it 10 more times. I think Reents reputation keeps the yellow flags in their back pocket the majority of the time. Wilmo will be dangerous in 3A. IC getting beat makes me think CC has a legit shot to win the North

I think the Coalers have a legit shot to win it all...This team is as dominant as the '93 2A champs..I think..Anyone else remember that team?

I was surprised at that decision as well. Wilmington was in rhythm and had not stopped Jezik. A TD on that drive, and it's a different game. Was impressed with the fight Wilmington showed in the 2nd half. They opened up the offense a bit as well. QB is a player on both sides of the ball. Ran Jezik down on the long run in the 2nd half.

4A looking very interesting outside IC im the burbs. Coal City looks like they can compete with anyone. Does anyone else foresee a Coal City-Stillman Valley battle in playoffs??

IC losing shows how deep 4A North is. Whoever gets through there to Dekalb will have definitely earned it. About 6 teams that have a legit shot.

Backs moving before the snap. Wilmo always pushes the line on that. That wing that lead blocks always gets a half second head start. They did a great job grinding CC out. Big plays hurt the Cats

Easy to see on video, looks like a very close call in real time. One back starts motion and grabs your attention while another's arm if not his entire body starts while the ball still sits on the ground. Being so tight, it all blends together and leaves you unaware. If you get away with it, well, it's part of the game, if you don't, it's still part of the game. Wilmington is extremely good at it with the timing of it working in their favor. Been that way for a long, long time.

Don't forget Richmond-Burton. They are in the mix.
