Top of the 3A bracket is ridiculous.

Consensus top 3 teams Wilmington and Byron have to meet in round 2. The winner gets the pleasure of playing the IC juggernaut in the quarterfinal. Seems the IHSA could have fudged around with the 3A schools in either the Champaign area or the Springfield area and cleaned this up a bit.

Probably won't matter because of how good IC is, but maybe some weather could neutralize their ability. Either way, this bracket is exhibit A in what's wrong with football playoff seeding and assignments.

I don't have any familiarity with a team in 3A, but honestly when reviewing all the brackets Saturday night this observation jumped out at me as well

6 of the 16 teams in the "northern" bracket are 9-0 with another couple 8-1. Pretty crazy to think one half of the bracket will likely see multiple 10-0 vs 10-0 match ups. I know things are never perfect but definitely feels like some judgement could be applied here to help this shake out more fairly for those teams

How about a straight up 1 thru 32 seeding like they do in 7A and 8A. For the smaller classes it would really jump up the weekly playoff travel, there would be lots of cross state travel because not as many teams concentrated in the Chicago/Rockford area, But it would ensure the south isn't stacked with all the 9-0 Teams or conversely the North (like it is this year). And it would offer the benefit of teams getting to play each other that they would normally never see until the finals which might be fun for the kids and fans.

1-32....

A. have the coaches seed the top 16, do first round pairings based on geography with matchups against the 1 unseeded teams.., cant be matchup thats been played in regular season..

B. Have coaches seed top 8 and 9-16. put them in 4 team pods based on travel..each pod gets a top 8 seed and a 9-16 seed..other two based on geography, again cant be first round matchup of regular season opponents

Other than a year of experience, what is the difference between IC this year and last? Last year had a very good team, but still got beat fairly soundly in the semifinal. Been told that this year's version is quite a bit better than last year Bishop Mac.
What were their additions?
What offense do they run?
How much do they throw?
What kind of defense do they play?
I know they have an amazing RB and a very good QB.

If this years IC team is better than last years B-mac team - that's scary.

Throw in some very good coaching too
