Why are you punishing Tre in your mind, because the coach is drawing up good effective plays to get lottery picks open. Your argument is silly and you’ve provided no proof whatsoever to determine Tre as an average half court floor general. None. Just three long, insufferable posts.
These aren't drawn up plays. Zion and RJ get the ball in routine positions on the court. The overwhelming majority of players couldn't score the ball in those situations without the type of movement or dribbling which take away an assist. That Zion and (to a lesser extent) RJ can score from those positions isn't a testimony to Tre.
.
Put it this way, RJ and Zion score in ways that accrue assists to Tre from certain positioning on the court. Jav and Bolden couldn't score from those same positions. Jack and AOC couldn't score from those positions. Cam can't score from those positions. Tatum and Battier might not have been able to score from those positions, at least, not in ways that would result in an assist to the passer.

A PG gets an assist when he dribbles down the court, unguarded, and then makes a zero pressure pass to a three point shooter who takes a long 3 that is lightly guarded. That is an assist, the same as a PG who dribbles through tough D to dish it in a tight window to a cutter who hits a point black shot after the D collapses on the PG. On the 3, the PG did essentially nothing to create the made shot. Conversely, on the 2, the PG did essentially everything to create the made shot. Both are reported as assists in the box score.

Tre making a routine pass to a guy that can score from a place no one else can isn't about Tre. JJ made threes from insane distances in college. Many of his assisted 3s had nothing to do with the PG's efforts. It was all him. Tre is in a similar situation with Zion and RJ. He makes a simple pass, and then they make a spectacular move or shot. Tre did very little, but he gets a full assist. I mean, props to him for making the simple pass, but it doesn't take a Bobby Hurley to make that pass.
