What are the number of second half touches for Marvin Harrison, Kaytron Allen, and Nick Singleton in last Saturday’s game? I don’t get it - you let your first year, sophomore QB - with no WR to stretch the field - throw 42 times but only give the two best players you have on offense 18 total touches with only 3 in the second half?

Agree with the play calling. Unless you are on the sidelines or in coaching meetings you don’t how the play calls are made.

Not to distract from the gameplan deficiencies (which were, IMO, many)

PSU ran just 17 SEVENTEEN non-garbage time plays in the 2nd half.
This despite getting an "extra possession" when OSU fumble the punt.
That is kinda' hard to do.

That is atrocious, and as much the responsibility of the defense - which allowed OSU to put together long drives - as it was the offense.

Of those 17 plays:
Singleton carried 3 times (for 3 total yards), Allen carried 3 times (for 3 total yards)
They had the one aborted double pass, and 10 attempts to throw by Allar (2 of which could be considered "successful")

It was a complete s^$t show - on BOTH sides of the ball.

Without looking back at stats....it seems we have been competitive in the first half against both OSU and UM in the recent past, then blown out in the second half. While we weren't blown out last week, we appear to have been outcoached or at least out-adjusted.

I need clarification. What’s a “non-garbage time play” in the context of last week?

Watch this, it appears to be a combo of an inexperienced QB, execution issues and crappy play calls in some instances.

Everything but that final drive in the closing minutes - which was (understandably, IMO) 12 straight pass attempts.

If we don't have explosive WRs why not line Singleton up in the slot?

or some wheel routes against a LB, or some screen passes, or some toss sweeps to get him to the edge or......

If you want explosive plays you need to get the ball to you explosive players in space

I remember using draws, play action, and rollouts as a way to buy time for a QB and keep the D honest. I do not consider RPO to be play action.
