According to a source cited by TH, RU has moved into the #1 spot with Mr. Richardson. -He wants to talk it over with his family first before making any final decision, but it seems RU has a very legit shot here.

Does getting two 2* commits count as a 4* ?

More like 1 two star and 2 zero stars , lol.

here is a question:
since Wayne Hills had a big D1 prospect, Evidence Njoku on their team being scouted by every P5 and G5 school in America, all watching a ton of Wayne Hills game film AND attending games, why is it only low production Evidence Njoku is offered by Everybody , including USC, yet DeVera and Hunter Hayek can't get a D1 offer and Tyler only 1 D1 offer ? There were a whole lot of D 1 eyeballs on them all year.
Scratching my head.

Because his older brother is getting drafted. The Hayeks are both great athletes, both have great speed. Both are going to play an important part of RU within the near future.

Potential.

Also, not sure if some of those offers would have dried up after a less than impressive senior year.

Good point, I think Evidence's brother being on of the better TE's in the country helps. Tyler and Devera have D1 size, so I don't really know why they don't have other P5 offers. Moreover, if Hunter is 5'11 175, I don't think he's too small to play slot either. Either we got lucky or they can't play at this level.

Their eyes were blinded by the Emminence of Njuko? or How about not seeing the Forest for the Trees?

So 129 other D1 coaching staffs that were looking at Njoku's game tape and went to the games never noticed DeVera and the Hayek twins. ?

Even if they are reaches, I'd rather get the reaches from NJ than from anywhere else. PJ was hardly recruited and neither was Michael Burton. Both were great college players and Michael Burton is in the NFL.

Good point. But you are talking about 1 reach in 2011 and another reach 2 years late. Not 3 in one recruiting class all from the same HS, and all 3 playing WR/TE/H Back.

I do think they are very athletic, not sure they are Big10 East caliber where RU competes. However, at this late date in the recruiting calender, maybe the best RU can do. They all seem to be versatile, will probably help on Special teams first.
Seems DeVera at H back may contribute the earliest.

40 year season ticket holder. Obviously I'm hoping for the best, lol.

Maybe, but to expect to get more than one of those types in a recruiting class is pie in the sky.

This is a good point and I don't think it's lost on most of the knowledgeable fan base. The H-back seems to be a Kill special so that is what it is, and as for the brothers, hopefully they can contribute.

I honestly think the only reach here is Hunter Hayek. The other two have the size and speed to be Big Ten players. Got to trust Kill on this here. Making relationships with these high school programs also cannot be understated.

Guys: we are going to have a few reach each class, for about another decade, if not longer. That, however, is a far cry from filling classes with "reaches" from Day 1 of the recruiting cycle.

look at our class... 2 sets of brothers... kids with offers from army and Harvard. If you're trying to create a good environment first, then this is a good approach. Consider what future recruits will see when they walk into practice. He's really creating a team with bonds - that other kids with perhaps more natural talent will want to be apart of in the future.

Njoku got a bunch of offers before his senior season based on potential and his brother.

He switches teams his senior year that has other great WR's and is exposed as you point out. He does have a lot of potential due to his size, but he had a pretty horrible senior year where all the RU Wayne players looked much better than him. Pretty sure he's not a take anymore at most of those schools that originally offered. Hunter and Tyler are both better than him right now. I guess we'll see who's the better college player soon enough.

I look at it a bit differently. I figure Ash wouldn't offer just to offer. If he offered it's got to be because he sees them, whether they're 2, 3, or 4* as upgrades over what is there now. The only other option is not offer, play kids who haven't shown to this point they can contribute in a meaningful way, and hope you'll get your A list guys in '18.

I look at the class and see Ash has done a pretty good job addressing 7 big unit needs in ST kickers, QB, OL, WR, LB, and DE. RB and DT are likely the 2 biggest concerns as of this moment. It seems RB still may turn out fine by Wednesday (fingers crossed).

This class will do a lot more for the program than any of Flood's (2013-2016). There is ZERO question in my mind.

That's like claiming to be the tallest midget ! lol. We are competing against Ohio St, Michigan, Mich St, Penn St and Maryland. Not the Flood teams of 2013-15. Those schools wouldn't give a PWO to our recent schollie offers from Wayne Hills. That's what worries me.

...and we likely wouldn't have offered schollies if we didn't have 26 or so slots this class and just came off a 2-10 season. My Lord this class is going to finish, at least in 1 service, Top 40 and people are complaining. I don't get it. Also, I call "bs" on Maryland not offering these guys PWO slots if they were interested.

Kill was looking for tough gamers who have the athleticism to play in the B1G, and he found them. Both of the Wayne kids had great seasons and fits what he wants culture wise. He doesn't care about recruiting ranks and I trust his judgement. Sometimes you have to look beyond the number of stars and other offers.
