I seem to recall that ranking is decided by the top 20 recruits only. Is this true?
This is correct. Right now the only players that will count in our rankings will be kids better than our 20th recruit. Basically low three three stars and above.

My point is we are finishing the class with 3 'reaches' which brings down the average of star/commit to near last in the Big

Dave,
You got to stop asking such incendiary questions, lol. Look, your post almost caused a Board Meltdown. With just 1 question, lol. Told you.

Your former Clothier Hall roommate,
Abro

PS- say hi to Mike Leach. How is recruiting going in Central Washington ?
Who cares about the average rating? Are you saying that by taking those three you call "reaches" will affect the actual playing ability of the recruits?

I'm tired of the "Star Tards" or those who keep asking what other offers the recruit had. If they can play, they can play. It doesn't matter what their subjective ranking is or who else felt they were worthy.

Bill Parcells always had his "lunch bucket guys" who weren't highly thought of but loved to play and made a difference. If these coaches, who have been doing this all their lives think these guys are worthy, I'll take their opinion over those worried about some ranking that in the end means nothing when teams hit the field.

Sorry but I have to disagree with this a little. Kyle flood filled his classes with two star kids, kids who didn't have offers from P5 schools, hidden gems, under the radar types, and look where it helped to put this program. Yes, you can recruit one or two or three hidden gems in a class, sure, but you can't fill your classes up with them Day 1 of the recruiting cycle (on a yearly basis).

Listen - rankings and opinions are flawed in dozens of ways. What I like is the following. When Kill came in and wanted a TE we got what looks like a servacible one. When we **** the bed at RB the staff continued to work hard and might have a pot of gold fall in their lap if academics work out. The found a great punter even if for 1 year. They may have a nice late DB and DT. At the end of the day the seem to have scrambled to the end very well. That's a great sign regardless of somebody's ranking or the assessment of the Wayne Hills guys.

So I know Todderick Hunt has some sort of inside information that has Rutgers at the top of the list for Cordarrian Richardson. The 247 predictions are all to Ole Miss and a few were also predicted after the Rutgers visit. It would be an absolute awesome get but I'm not very confident.

the 247 predictions are writers, bloggers and analysts that make individual predictions. most were made before Rutgers showed up on the radar. They also haven't updated the offer list, nor do they have Rutgers rated as "warm" even though that's a fact regardless if he chooses RU or not. As with any of these sites, grain of salt.

If he was THAT sure about Ole Miss I don't think he'd be taking his time, as such, to talk to his parents about making the final decision (following his RU visit).

Does the Barnwell commit impact signing Richardson or is it to compensate for his going elsewhere?

I don't believe one has anything to do with the other. Especially since "the other" is a STUD 4-star so, from our end of things, definitely nothing that would stop us from taking him.

I don't understand how kids can just not sign on national signing day. I mean what's the point of actually having a national signing day in the first place if if doesn't matter if you sign on that day or not.

So 129 other D1 coaching staffs that were looking at Njoku's game tape and went to the games never noticed DeVera and the Hayek twins. ?

Unfortunately, actual scouting and recruiting has changed quite a bit over the years. Coaches don't watch actual game film anymore. Sounds crazy, but a lot of these coaches are watching the hudl clips just like we are. Good hudl + good camp performance = offer.

National Signing Day isn't a real thing as far as I know. Its simply the first day that recruits are permitted to sign a Letter of Intent per the NCAA by-laws.

...and about 95% of them do, hence, "National Signing Day" has become, pretty much, a holiday. [banana]

On top of the fact that the ESPN hype machine helped to turn it into a "holiday" with its 12 hours or whatever of TV coverage tomorrow too. The whole recruiting process culminating with tomorrow has really become a bit sickening.
