According to ticket master and KSR there are still 4,000 tickets left for UK's opener in their remodeled stadium. Can't be too hard on them though…it's tough to get used to a larger stadium after a remodel……oops scratch that they went the other direction….and still 4000 ticks for sale.

I'd love to know how many of the tickets that get used are exit/enter users to go drink in the parking lot to ease the pain.

I 've been to many of our games at PJS and they say it was a sell out however , Plenty of seats and crap load of ticket peddlers outside the stadium selling lower bowl tickets for dirt cheap. I really like to know how schools say a game was a sellout but plenty of tickets at the stadium and online. I know season tickets and online alottment are counted as sold. 4,000 unsold doesnt seem like a bad amount.

The tickets held by the University were sold. What your seeing is a resale of the tickets by either first party buyer or second party buyer.

UK better be careful the way they consistently lie about attendance that they don' release a number higher then CWS new lowered capacity. I can see it now, UK announced attendance 68,549.

How many "strong" are they now?[/QUOTE

I expect they will have a sellout or very close to it by kickoff.

I can tell you from my own experience from 2010 (a year that I chose not to get season tickets), that ticket brokers get blocks of season tickets from UofL (and I'm sure many other schools) at a steep discount. UofL of course does this for a few reasons: #1, they get some guaranteed amount of money for tickets that they are pretty sure they won't sell. #2 they can get the brokers to take a large block of tickets to less attractive games by throwing in a small number of the more attractive games on the schedule. And #3, they can officially announce that the game is a sellout and also save money by closing the ticket sales window on gameday.

In my 2010 case, lower bowl tickets (face value $48) were sold to these brokers for $17 each. The broker made pretty good coin off of me for the UK game by having me pay $210 for 2 tickets that he spent $34 on. A couple of other games I paid $20 to buy online, and the tickets again had a face value of $17 printed on them.

I am pretty sure that when we set the new attendance record and sold out out our season tickets last year that these discount brokers were either squeezed out of business or had to pay the full advertised season ticket price from last year. This situation is actually a clear sign to TJ that it is time to expand, because he knows that the demand is strong enough that, even if he cannot sell all of the additional season tickets, he will still be able to get something for nearly every ticket by quietly selling a few thousand tickets to discount brokers.

An understanding of English helps...

A SELLout means all tickets were SOLD. Empty seats are irrelevant in that discussion.

Only a turnstile count will tell you who actually showed up.

LPT Football: Last year that would have 13,000 unsold tickets...

Translated from UK speak, that means they have 20K left to sell.

Actually, you're not too far off base. For the last several weeks, UK has been releasing its remaining tickets in blocks. It is to feign scarcity and/or cover up the large unsold number. It is currently offering a $25 special to its season ticket holders to get rid of as many as possible and the insiders confirm that there are at least 4000 or so remaining. Whether that means 4000 out of the current block of tickets or 4000 total is unknown. Doubt that anyone will really know until game time. It is also giving away tickets to select groups (i.e., kids, civic groups, etc.) for $5 from what I've heard.
I'm not a UK hater when it comes to football but there is no doubt that it is disappointed in the ticket sales and that the attendance numbers will be fudged. Very unlikely that its home opener is a sellout (and that's with 4000 less seats this year due to the construction). The fan base is simply unwilling to put out that kind of money for a lower quality opponent (from their perspective) or until the team proves itself on the field.

Until you win a road game in your own conference, have a winning season and go to a bowl game....every...single...opponent should be considered quality.

What fanbase other than those blue knuckleheads beleives they are so great and deserving when they just flat suck? That really can't be the logic most of them are using....right??

If I had to guess, I would think it's really more about they just don't care about football. If they were such a huge and supportive fanbase, they'd have that stadium packed to over capacity every single game regardless of record or expectations. By their own account, they have the largest and most passionate fanbase in the U.S. So please explain how they can't fill up a stadium of ants in their own ant hill? Some of the most diehard uk fans I know just don't care to waste their time driving to lexington to watch a crappy team of a sport that plays second fiddle to their religion which is basketball....FACT! They'd rather go to a UofL game, tailgate, have a blast and watch a UofL football game. That is truth and I can prove it! I've spotted NUMEROUS uk fans at UofL games on the same day as a uk game even wearing UofL gear. There's your reality.

Relatively speaking, there's no question about that. They have no business looking down their noses at anybody.

But the problem is they don't enjoy watching their own team play. So if the other team sucks, there's NO team to watch play. And their attendance reflects that.

LPT Football: Do we still get our annual check?...

This is exactly why they downsized their stadium. I think the reasoning is, they can't sell to quantity of people, so why not shrink it and try to jack prices up later. Kind of like Time Warner Cable losing customers and jacking up prices. The quality of UK's football program is about on par with TWC.

Unfortunately for UK, it appears they need another round of shrinkage since demand is still so low.

Plenty of tickets left for UL vs Houston and the other home games on Ticketmaster, Seatgeek and Stubhub....and no, they are not ALL resales. Prices from $8.00. Saw where USC vs UNC was going to have over 20,000 unsold, and this is a heated rivalry. Most programs are in the same boat, especially when their opponent doesn't bring a respectable crowd..

This. We sell out every game. Tickets available are secondary tickets sold by scalpers. I had someone the other day say that their work was getting offers for $10 tickets to the Houston game. I called them on it and asked them to tell me how to get them so that I could turn around and sell them. I know plenty of people that would love to get to that game but can't get tickets. I could sell them and make a nice little profit for myself. Of course no one let me know how I could get these so called $10 tickets.

Ticketmaster is the UofL ticket office (except in very rare cases where someone is using Ticketmaster to resell a ticket). If the seats are in sections 101, 102, 201, 202, 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5, and are listed on ticketmaster, they are unsold tickets being returned by Houston.

It is possible that UofL made a deal with stubhub or seatgeek to sell some of the seats in those sections at a steep discount. Anything in any other section of the stadium is a ticket that is being resold, because UofL sold out all of their season tickets again this year.

UNCvs USC is as much of a heated rivalry as UL vs IU. Gimme a break. South Car rivalry is and always will be Clemson and UNC is NC State.

61000 fans and 100,000 teeth. Besides I think they're coming for the concert featuring the women's basketball coach. Only at UK

One thing that makes me laugh is how UK fans always talk about how UK threads dominate the top of the forum, but here's a UK fan that bumped a dead thread about UK.

It will be interesting to see if UL sells out any games other than Clemson. I suspect that UK sells out Auburn, UL, Florida, and possibly Tennessee

noon game, students don't wake up until 2pm, we barely got our tailgate started and had to pack it up. Houston isn't really a big draw, they had maybe 200 fans there.
