That first number represents NU's 3pt shooting percentage through 5 games.

Last year for the season NU shot 31.5 percent.

The second number is the PPG scoring average for the top 5 guards on the team. Last year it was 27.8.

Last year was such a horrible year but two things happened towards the end of the season that appear to have carried over. The first is much bigger than the second: Pete Nance. I probably posted about this before but during the second Illinois / NU game last year Nance was playing against Kofi and Bezhanishvili and it was like a light when on his head - he just needed to play harder. That effort appears to have carried over.

The other thing that happened was that Collins started playing Ryan Greer. Why, because Greer also figured it out toward the end of the season. Collins has now mentioned he trusts Greer to run the team. This is important because it allows Collins to rest Buie for good stretches in both halves.

These things are huge overall.

Next step - Boo Buie defense (he's got a lot of Zach Lavine in his game) and Kopp and Beran taking even another step.

Well the sample size is small, its positive so far even with the Pitt debacle.

Our 3-point shooting has been terrible in the past few years, and it seems we may finally be able to weaponize it this year, the biggest boost being Berry. Here's hoping that Buie, Nance, Audige continue to hit the three's (Kopp is a given).

That was a bad three-point performance last season. You want to be hitting at least 35 percent of those to be effective. Anything 40 or over for a team would be terrific.

Boo Buie is being compared with a former dunk contest winner? That’s an interesting pro comparison.
