If we beat Indiana next week and are 6-2, how will everyone feel if we end up 6-6? Would suck to limp to a finish line that. Have to get to 7 if we win next week.
Not at all, we would have played two of the Top 5 in the country and the more than likely West Division Champions. Anyone who looks at that schedule will say, "man that's just a brutal schedule".

Any idea when the game times of the last 4 will be announced?
Next week is 12:00. Everything else will be announced about 10 days out from the actual game since we're actually successful this year.

I said from the beginning this looks like a team that will get better as the season goes on. We have not seen that in the last 10+ years. Schedule is brutal but I am encouraged since we do look better against the big boys. Would be nice to at least get a surprise win to finish the season.

Are they? Just held Wisconsin to two field goals. That defense is legit. Leader in the West. Do you people actually watch other games?
I did and the Wisconsin backup was brutal. The int. was killer and basically ended the game as they were driving in Iowa territory got down to the 35. Got sacked for a safety, you simply can't keep going backwards from the 8 into the endzone and get tackled. He also fumbled in their own territory giving Iowa a free field goal. I wish we faced that dude because he sucked ***,

I almost disagree...If KM goes for 140 on the ground and GW throws for 180...keeping in mind that one pick should have been a clean catch and we had that stupid dropped punt and the Refs...
And our defense held MST to under 250 yds.

I would not pencil in Indiana as a win. It will be a hard fought game.

Aren’t you usually the optimistic one? Besides Wagner, I’m not sure Indiana is better than anyone else we’ve played. Look, I get that this one is on the road and the pressure is on to claim bowl eligibility, but Indiana’s offense is beyond awful. They haven’t managed more than 17 points in regulation to an FBS opponent (and the FCS opponent they played hasn’t won a game yet). And when you look at the games they scored double digits - it was Akron who took them to OT (17-17) - yuck. And vs Maryland they scored 2 garbage time Q4 TDs in a 44-17 blow out loss. Their best effort was vs UofL where they lost 21-14 coming back from a 21-0 deficit to make things interesting. Losing this game would a major step back and vastly disappointing for so many reasons. Definitely a trap game of sorts for us following an emotional win.

I didn't say Rutgers would lose. I said it would be a hard fought game. Some thought yesterday would be a cake walk. It was not.
Love how our fans look down their noses at other programs, but then get their feathers ruffled when someone says something mildly complimentary about another team.

Indiana played Louisville to a 21-14 loss, gaining 357 yards. Is Rutgers "better" than Louisville? We don't know.

Indiana put up 321 yards and 17 points against Maryland. Is Rutgers "better" than Maryland? As of yet, not RU's offense.

They did not look good against Michigan, but who has? 6/15 on 3rd downs. Rutgers was 3/10 on 3rd downs.

As I said, I expect a hard fought game. I think we will win. Feel better? It's not all sunshine and puppy dogs all the time.

It is why pencils have erasers. I won't put in ink yet though.
But like NWU - we are better than them and we should win the game, even on the road.

It is also starting to look like we could even be better than or equal to Iowa- hear me out on this one.
Record alone- Utah St. , Iowa St. West. Michigan to start - not exactly murderers row - and they only won W.Mich by more than 1 score.
Then shut out by PSU. Same time we won all our early games by mult scores and then the Mich game.
They have then won MST- similar to us, Purdue and they beat Wisc this week. Who we lost to.
So, the difference really is the Wisc game.

Look at the numbers- you look and say- Iowa is going to dominate the lines and run it down your throat and stuff you at the LOS.
But- the numbers sometimes surprise you
We gain more yards on the ground they do(165 - 131) and we give up less on the ground then they do(116 - 126)
Wait, what? we have a ground differential of +34 to Iowa's +5

And we are going to have to throw it to beat them...
The numbers:
Rutgers 164 per game Iowa 117
The defense:
Rutgers 161 Iowa 198
differential Rutgers (+3) Iowa (-81)

Will be a knock down beat them up type game but in reality, perception has been outweighing reality proven by the numbers.

An undefeated 5-0 at home too. Who knew SHI was such a home field advantage?
One particular home field advantage we had during Schiano 1.0 is waiting to emerge again: crowd noise. It was like the Phillies post-season crowd now. If we can get mostly RU fans and a full student section for the OSU game, we will cause an OSU false start or two. We may have a stadium layout built for channeling all that noise onto the field.

agree- and we had it in 2014 as well. can still remember B1G teams walking into Rutgers stadium thinking one thing and walking out saying "WTF was that". Our little stadium was like when opponents came to the rAC for the first time.

Indiana picked up 150 of those 321 yards on Maryland when the score was 37-3 and 44-10. I can’t imagine the first team D wasn’t in at that point.

The second half of the Louisville game was the only time Indiana’s offense showed any signs of life all season. It started with UofL shifting to a prevent D up 21-0. And then momentum carried for a couple drives plus a pick. If they score +14 points against us that will be disappointing IMO.

The only thing that will be disappointing is a loss. I'll take any win. But the negatoids will be bashing the program and Greg if we don't roll them. Every game is it's own entity.

The wild card- will Indiana start an untested or Freshman QB? 😬 😂

Iowa is beatable in the sense that they have no offense. So a team that has massive trouble scoring is beatable. But they make timely plays on D or STs. You should see some of the stats I posted in the games thread yesterday on their offense. It's comical but that's who they are.

Provided there's enough time, I always think in 2 score games (possibly 3), there's a chance because of sudden change or a big play. A team like MSU, you think they're mistake prone so who knows it could happen even at 3 scores down. You won't get a comeback like yesterday against Iowa because they'll slowly strangle you to death like a boa constrictor. They generally don't make make those sudden change mistakes, they get them.

The flipside is, they don't usually get out in front of you by more than a score unless you make mistakes. Keep it inside a score and you always have a chance.

Side note on yesterday's game. Mordecai went out with a hand injury late in the first half.

Honestly, it's as good as we could have hoped for at this point.

A winnable trip to Bloomington next week and we potentially have a 6-2, bowl eligible team coming off a bye week when OSU comes to Piscataway on 11/4.

Interesting.
RU Kidding? I think it's better lol. This is great. last year we finally got our first big win at home in forever and now we already got 2. I don't think anyone (other than @rutgersal of course) expected this so far.

Everyone please though. Let's not look past away game vs. Indy. Beat them first!

Iowa at Iowa is a tough, tough ask. And based on our/their record it might be a night game which would be an even tougher environment. Look at the 'bad' loss they had vrs PSU. PSU had an awful lot of nothing drives, but made no mistakes and played good d. That's the blueprint. It won't be easy and I think we would need to win the turnover battle by 2 at least. https://www.espn.com/college-football/playbyplay/_/gameId/401520265

You are correct but...by every single measure known to football- our defense is better. Our offense is better too.

But- they are still the better team until proven on the field. I would expect an all our war against them. It may be who's good run defense is better that day.
