I did hear that the faster tests are supposed to be ready very soon. Supposedly they give results in 15 minutes, but I haven't heard how their false positives and false negatives compare to the current tests. The company producing them (name slipped my mind) said that they could produce 50k per day. As long as the tests are relatively accurate, that's awesome news.Probably MUCH more. Be nice once testing is fully up and widespread.
Abbott Labs in Ohio, and I think that it's more like 5 minutes than 15, but could be wrong.
Might be two different tests - one was an in-office point of care test like the rapid flu and one was an at-home test like a pregnancy test (don't think you pee on this test though).Abbott Labs in Ohio, and I think that it's more like 5 minutes than 15, but could be wrong.
I've read also that your amount of exposure can determine how sick you get, which explains why it is tragic for some young people I guess, but also makes me think that a vaccination can be made like as with smallpox, hopefully real soon, I'd gladly give Donnie the credit if we can get a vaccination and get out of this sooner rather than later with as little loss of life and economic damage done as possible, I don't fall on my sword. I think he would get more positive approval if he could just say things weren't done perfectly, God he must be demoralizing to work directly under.
One must trust that accepted guidelines for approving a diagnostic medical test will be strictly adhered to. High specificity is mandatory. Having significant cross reactivity with species only remotely related (or having no relationship at all) to the entity under investigation provides little useful information snd a great surplus of concern and anxiety. Everyone clammers for having test results available faster and faster, but faster and cheaper cannot become paramount over specificity and, in many cases, sensitivity. We need and anxiously await quality tests for this virus. They are so urgently needed. Quality research institutions such as , Roche, Abbott and numerous others are well establish and highly respected in providing and continually improving diagnostic platforms and testing materials so vital to the generation of necessary data for disease diagnoses and management.I did hear that the faster tests are supposed to be ready very soon.
