With Greg's article that the 5 for 5 is likely to pass, will that affect the juniors who did not have the year expected to be a high draft pick. I don't see it affecting guys such as DeCaro or Schaffner, but what about Gallaher? Where the junior year used to be the last year before a player lost any leverage, now Gallaher (for example) could come back and play another year as a senior and still have the leverage of one more (the fifth). Am I interpreting the rule and its impact on baseball eligible draftees correctly?

You’re interpreting it correctly but I would still expect any player projected in the top 10 rounds to go pro. And Gallaher is in that group.

5 for 5 could help players like Nicholson or Paulsen (who don’t have Gallaher’s high draft stock) come back for their senior years though, for sure.

I've previously mentioned this, but with both Lynch and DeCaro falling in the draft projections, compared to where they were before the season started, coming back and having big seasons could mean significant money for them in the draft next year. Of course, having similar or worse seasons, or suffering an injury is the risk of returning.

Yep agree. I think it’s almost a sure thing DeCaro leaves. Lynch maybe a bit of hope he returns, but I still wouldn’t count on it.

I think you make a great point about the risk of injury. The risk isn't as great for position players but it is a major concern for pitchers. Our biggest example of that is Folger Boaz. Prior to his elbow injury he was likely on great path to a reasonably high pick, but since surgery his control and precision just hasn't quite returned. Being "one pitch away" is a bigger reality for them and they probably have a higher sense of urgency to take the money and the opportunity when it's offered.

I heard a starting player say he was coming back next year yesterday. It will be interesting to see how many will.
I agree with 76, our starting pitching has not been as strong as we had hoped, would be good to return & see if they can get better throwing strikes & getting misses when they do.

Hopefully it was Schaffner! But I’m betting it was Coop or Paulsen. Nonetheless, great news!
