If we have a rich Nebraska guy who would drop $5 million a year on a QB, that person needs a psychiatric exam, STAT.
If teachers had the union/marketing campaign that firemen have created, it would be amazing!
We get hit by students, yelled at by parents, attacked by students and parents, slandered by students and parents and shot and killed...
But firemen are these amazing heroes for putting water on a flame. Again, they are brilliant.
You are applauding them because you believe their job is easy because they aren't fighting fires 8 hours each shift, not because what they do is dangerous or worthy of their hero status among the population. You are being disingenuous at best.
Not everyone, but those that put their own lives on the line to protect those who can't protect themselves. They are.

My life is not in danger at school anymore than it is when I walk into Wal-Mart. Do I deal with too much ********, yes, but I do not run the risk of being burnt alive every day I go to work.

I think they are heroes and I think they have done an amazing job creating the hero worship.
I just think they they are overpaid but I think they should take every single penny they can get.

I disagree with you. 50-75% of the fan base watched Raiola because of something Tom Osborne or Tommy Frazier did in the past. He wasn't worth watching if he was on a canadian football team...which he isn't actually good enough for at this point. The entire husker team, including Rhule are feeding off of the success of 25+ years ago. They aren't actually good enough to be getting the money or attention they get, they don't garner attention on their own. A free Nebraska walk-on could have put on the same helmet, and won 3-5 games for free, the extra few wins were meaningless...they didn't grow the program or make money for anybody. College football is a scam based on attachments people have from the past. The fact that our roster made anywhere near the same as indiana's...is criminal.

I believe tuco is a teacher, and he's one of the reasons i don't flame teachers more, cause he seems like a cool cat and the kind of teacher we could use more of. So we know they exist.

All of those things are true.
I wish the teachers union did that good of a job, I wish they fought to tell the public about how hard our job is and how often we get shot at (there are more school shootings each year than there are firestation shootings).
What I am saying is you are worth what you can command.

Rhule won nothing, Dylan did nothing and were just handed money because they are in the same position as Tom and TF. You analogy would be better if a black lesbian actress was casted in Top Gun 3 as maverick, and asked for 30 million because they were replacing Tom Cruise...and people would still fill the theatre and think the movie was good because Tom Cruise was in the previous ones but not this one. College football fans are that stupid. Go watch a movie with absolute posers and think it is good because of the N on the helment. College football isn't capitalism...if it was our program would be dead. Nebraska Football is a for profit charity, or a scam. People donate money for no service, people even just pay to go to a game, pay for food, pay for beer and just stand outside and watch other teams on tv, won't even go into the stadium. It is so weird.

There are a lot of bad teachers because there is almost no training, and the filters are non-existent. It is a good paying job for somebody who can barely graduate college and doesn't have any other decent skills. And teaching is mostly about kid management, not actually teaching content. Keeping kids happy and the appearance of doing things that look like school. Obviously putting 2000-3000 teenagers in a building with 100 adults for 8 hours a day, 30 kids a room with 1 adult, with no intelligence of placement is a recipe for management not teaching. If we stuck 30 dudes from the free board in a room with a moderator, and made them sit and be quiet and listen, there would be no teaching...but a good teacher would do a lot of management until the bell rang. We learned during the pandemic that nobody cares about learning, nobody wants to pay for it but we do care about child care, and we want our kids babysat so we can go to work and make money to buy stuff. We still want our doctors and lawyers to know stuff but they have to learn that somewhere else.
Are you implying that we could possibly just let houses burn themselves out? You do realize that whole neighborhoods would go up in flames without a timely response by firefighters?
Also, are you 100% certain that a fireman didn't bang your fiance or wife at one point?
